You realize those are just the first two steps, right? The quest is not finished and I’m pretty sure the grind is coming although not as a new zone. Anyway, I’d take tomes and run content I like over running dozens of old fates or the same raid over and over.

Aside for those that got all of them, those that used it as catchup or whatever. Parsers already have a better one while they also don't have to run sastasha 666 times if they want something pretty aside of parses.

You realize those "just the first two steps" are HALF of the relic questline, and we have two patches left to make this more interesting? Why would anything change in the latter half if the first half was already casually completable just by having your tomestones 3/4 capped going into it?

In my opinion, i630 with maxed out substats on both stats is good enough for something that is using 2x 1500 previous Tier tomestones vs. +5 item levels from the Savage Raid. The difference is so miniscule most players asking for the relic to jump from i615 to i635 couldn't even leverage the potential.

I mean you are not wrong.

I you made it this far into the patch without clearing P8S for a 635ilvl weapon, one could argue that the relic is worthless for stats.

Just make them level 1 with no stats.

The actual difference between the Relic and an Abyssos weapon is FOUR in the secondary substat.

For BLM specifically its that 4 SPS substat that changes you from 2.17 to 2.16 GCD.

The core concept of relic used to be grinding based on undisclosed elements/mystery that the player base have to uncover and solve together for max efficiency.
E.g. back in HW, the game never told you where to get the 40x different Unidentifiable, it's spread out everywhere from normal raid to treasure hunt.

Same with Eureka, the game doesn't give you tutorial, you just jump in and share the knowledge with other players how to tackle the contents.

Island Sanctuary had a spreadsheet day one. IMHO it was and should be more focused on looks rather than part of the gearing process in current patches.

Well, obviously it should not be just a glamour stick, so that "just make them level 1 with no stats", cynical or not, is moot.

But it is interesting the speed difference between raid weapon and relic weapon is this little, but still substantial for specific tier breakpoints. But yeah, if people really insist on a specific set of stats, the relic still is just a stepping stone and should remain like one.

But giving credit where it is due, only 5 item level under raid weapon is substantially better than the meme they did most expansion relics prior.

And how many people actually bother with the spreadsheet and most importantly is it even fun? I'd take 2.x Diadem over Island Sanctuary.

I disagree that relic should be glamour only, It used to be a combination of gearing process + looks + content + social interaction.
