Most MMORPGs are actually from Korea, and the main goal is to have profits as fast as possible during early days of said release, and attempt to maintain that cash flow with cash shop. I mentioned this in another thread, but all these MMOs is about creating problems in game, then sell the solution on cash shop. It's no longer about creating a game for players.

This is something I hope FFXIV maintains because I love the fact I can always come back to the game after few days or weeks and not have missed anything at all. Catching up is very easy and I'm not locked out of content because I don't have the best gear possible. I wish all MMOs did this -- provide different content to different people, it's how you maintain a playerbase.

It was specifically attacked for needing to run everywhere (including to other city states) when we could just teleport if they let us, at least by journalists. That's another way of saying it was wasting our time.

That's why we can teleport as much as we want now. They listened to that specific feedback. Otherwise they'd have had no reason to change the teleport system and we would still be unable to use it frequently and have to wait days to recharge anima (imagine what hunt trains would be like).

Yes, it was always able to be done in about a day, my point was just a further interest in regard for casual players after the Eureka response where, despite it being amazing content, was attacked for things like "NMs take too long to spawn" by almost everyone at the time.

Maybe the same reason GW2 doubled their active player numbers recently since it doesn't waste your time at all

OP is right, there is no other MMORPG on the market right now that comes close to being the jack of all trades that FF14 is. I would still call WoW the king of raiding if that is ones primary activity of fun in an MMO but honestly there are so many grinds and hoops you have to jump through just to even raid in WoW that I think FF14 even beats it overall in raiding now. Especially with the ability to run synced content. GW2, ESO, SWTOR and Lost Ark are also decent in their own way having played them all in the past year or so, but FF14 truly is the best over all. Is it perfect? No. Can this community be too sycophancy? Absolutely. But it is still the best.

The WOD fiasco is living proof of what happens when players vote with their wallets. They lost more than FIFTY PERCENT of their playerbase in six months.

Pure, unadulterated spite because the playerbase didnt like the idea of a no flight expansion that 1. Sold a flight mount as part of the game purchase 2. LIED to their players on flight inception and then after that exploded into a 2 thousand page thread, they backed off and announced "Pathfinder", the BFA one was a doozy do a load of reps and other garbage, SIT AND WAIT A YEAR for part two to come.

Blizzard is "play the way we want as we want how we want". God did that cost them.

It says volumes when you remember that the words "WOW Refugee" had never been heard before 2020. It was UNHEARD OF. The ones that remain are copium addicts "No one quits WOW they all come back eventually".

Theres an old principle : It costs three times as much to gain new customers than it does to keep current ones..

If you enjoy something it's not wasted time I don't think. You can't learn a new language every second you're free.

Values your time, maybe...

But they still have demolition timers as incentive to keep your sub active even if you don't play.

So ultimately it's a win-win for them. They keep your sub active but they don't have to deal with your network traffic and your contribution for server congestion at the same time.
