No, we pay for the content, housing is content. Furthermore it is not a mark of prestiege, it is a mark of luck.

Why do I want to move from a Small house to a Large? Because I want a large space to develop something unique, creative and spacious, something which can not be done inside a small property due to the size restrictions.

Lets say you wanted to do the latest raid, however every time you apply to a new group you got kicked out before it started. Now lets say you've done this for over a year and never ever got a chance to do that raid. This is how its been for the housing lotto system for the last year.

By no means is this a challenge at all, you can not earn a random house. You win one through sheer luck of an RNG system. This system needs to change.

Also to counter act the statement of "Anything given has no value", you bought the house with gil earnt, while also linking above, you can not earn something which is random. I have been sitting on 63m for quite a while now, with nothing to spend on, this housing system would change that. you'd see crafters finally having new people to sell to, more people changing their properties trying out new designs, which in turn would make a more beneficial system for all rather than the one showboater with a mansion and a namazu fire effigy on the front left for 3 years without anything added or changed to it.

The option to instance should... actually must be an option at this point. When you've lost for a year straight on every single lotto this screams something needs to change.

Not all of us got their home in the lotto - some of us had to compete for months in click off's and could not simply walk up and ask a friend to loan them 3 million gil. You can literally beg for millions of gil now with almost zero effort. I agree a totally RNG system blows - but there are still homes to bid on even after this.

The reality is there is a shortage of supply - I would address the causes of the shortage in the system BEFORE building a entirely new system. Shell FC's in my opinion should not be a thing.

I have an apartment which is tiny. I want a house because every single good MMO I have played has given me a house which allows me artistic expression. Housing give us individuality and adds massive depth to a game. Plus what else are you going to spend your gil on besides furniture?

They should make a default ward to each housing zone that is instanced and then have the wards 1 - 30 or something for those who want the neighbor stuff. For the instanced zone you can choose a plot and the rest of the houses look like the theme for the zone.

At any rate, housing is a game feature, not something special that’s supposed to be reserved for the lucky few. Your opinion of whether giving people housing with far more modest effort then what others put in is a opinion and mine differs from it - our feelings are exactly that so no real arguing that and perseverance is effort contrary to how you want to spin it; but I can respect how you feel.
As for ultimate's; the question is that if its content and I simply want the final result - why should it be difficult? It is content and I am denied it by virtue of simply not being a good enough player; skill is not the factor. The reality is that everyone has the same opportunities to participate and yet many do not succeed - but if they are participating should they also not be rewarded because they chose to participate?

Just as housing is a feature, so too are the ultimate's and just like the ultimate's not everyone who does them will succeed. Both outcomes are also largely effected by the actions of others and both offer rewards seen as a mark of prestige. The lotto system being introduced reduced the system to a random number draw - so now the only effort you need to put in is show up and wait. This is sadly the outcome I seen when the lotto was announced and I am on record saying this would happen and many were fine with it at the time; till they now seem to realize that they may very well be the last in line. So they need to hang in there which sucks and again I think the only thing that will satisfy some people is if they are given a large in the spot they want and of those I suspect most will just lose interest in unsub in a few months later.

Placard clicking was definitely more painful RNG, but it was still RNG. I’ve been there for both, and both suck in their own ways. I think what it comes down to for me is it shouldn’t require effort to obtain a house. It shouldn’t have then, it shouldn’t now. Everyone should have equal access instead of it being luck if the draw. I’m not advocating for instanced to replace wards, just let the option be there so everyone can have a house.

For myself, and I’d guess a lot of other housing enthusiasts, it’s not a matter of prestige or achievement or in-game status. We just want to decorate! lol And have the amount of space we want to do so! I have a notebook full of ideas I want to try out but I’m not in the right space for it.

In the end, I don’t see any way for all those wanting personal mediums or larges to have any real shot unless some kind of instanced option happens. It would take a lot more work to add more mediums/larges in the existing system, even more to create a whole new layout to make that feasible. An instanced system using the existing wards’ plots and environments as a model is probably the easiest way to go. IMO it’s a realistic expectation that you should be able to upgrade after you have the gil and desire to do so. Or the oddball like me, who lucked into a medium and decided it doesn’t work for me and wants to go back to a small! lol

Just think that all the way around, it’s the easiest way to give everyone what they want. How much effort should be required for something we’re already paying for? Although I’m already on record here and in other threads saying I’d be willing to pay a retainer-like fee for an instanced house.

All they need to add are instanced house exteriors and a directory for accessing them. That's really all that is missing for us to get instanced houses. The interiors are already instanced, so those are pretty much ready to go.

Ya, you know when you have the 'Where the Heart is' quests for housing introduction? There should be a default Lb/Mists/etc zone made up and when you go in it's your instance where you can choose to buy a plot later at 50. The rest of the houses should be zone themed, no paissas or chocobros houses. Wards can still be accessed of course and you can relocate to another zone when you gain access to them in MSQ.
