I dunno what you're talking about. I've been answering your question from the start and I'm sure others have as well.
IS is not meant to be a one-stop-spot like garrison. It never will be. (I don't even have the context for garrison and frankly I'm tired of hearing about it and WoW. None of it means anything to me because I was never there.)
You're ignoring these points and insisting that all these things get dumped in the island. It's no surprise that people get rude about it.
I was there for garrisons. Leaving aside the server problems at launch (which were not garrison exclusive, so I can't blame it on them), I wasn't a fan. It killed engagement with the community by making everyone hide away in their own instance in order to progress their professions; it was dull and lifeless being surrounded by NPCs all the time; most of the followers were either weak and useless or overpowered and unskippable; and the war table passing out raid gear made actually running the raids less impactful. And all of the added conveniences, like bank and auction house access, just meant nobody bothered to leave the garrison, leaving the other hubs lifeless and dead. I didn't enjoy it, and I don't really want to see it again.
And saying you don't want it to be a "throwaway feature" when that's exactly what garrisons became (to the point that even Blizzard poked fun at it, one of the Mag'har orc jokes is a complaint about abandoned garrisons left all over Draenor) is a bit odd.
I mean people afk in Limsa anyway, what's the difference? Personally, I find the game already quite lonely, so it'll be nice to be lonely in my own personal "one-stop" hub that I can come back to, even if I don't renew my sub after awhile.
Of all the things to respond to...
"If you're lonely, go outside"
"don't have friends, play sports"
As if discords aren't as cliquey and socially isolating. *eyeroll*
These don't magically make in-game loneliness go away, nor does it guarantee any actual social connections with fellow players, but whatever. If I'm going to have low interaction (or struggle with such for whatever reason, none of anyone in the forums, beeswax) in the game, I might as well have fun doing it all in my IS. Especially if the features I hope for are added, even if the chances are low.
It's okay. You can admit you're wrong. You don't have to dump a bunch of excuses for the one thing you can respond to. :p
