Also, since this stupid rhetoric keeps getting parroted that Feast died despite Top 100 existing:
- Seasons with armour rewards or unique mounts had a fair bit of player traction and got even new people to the season.
- The problem Feast had was role-based matchmaking. The main key point in most matches was the Healer, an insanely stressful role. It was an uphill battle if there was a healer diff.

We asked for casuals to get cool stuff. We got cool stuff for casuals and a new style of pvp that isn't healer-centric, a lot get to play now. But HOW DARE WE ask for a trophy reward for performing exceedingly well.

I mean for f***'s sake, not even the first place gets their unique housing trophy anymore.

16-18 seasons most of us didn't put in any effort or weren't playing at the time to compete for. Those who did got what they deserved.
I do not deserve getting Hellhound or Barghest Armour, I didn't play so I have no right to get it, no matter how old the stuff is and how bad I want it. I barely managed to get the Season 19 armour after losing Season 18. I put in effort in Season 18, but I wasn't good enough, so I don't deserve that either.

The truth is, those are trophies and should be kept as such for those who were the best at the time of a competition being held.

Otherwise, why bother competing if it just comes back later?

I already wrote this in another thread. But I will repost it here too.

I like your idea to not lock stuff behind FOMO and make it also obtainable in the future. So rewards will still be able to be obtained later by casual players.

Because people were comparing PVE rewards with PVP rewards again: I still don't think Top 100 rewards are the way to go.
And I also don't think you can compare Ultimates/Savage Raids to Top 100 rewards. Why? Because even though Ultimates are the hardest PVE content, they are still easier to obtain than Top 100 in Pvp.

There are fundamental differences between Top 100 rewards and Ultimates/Savage Raids:

1. You can ALWAYS do Ultimates. There are no Seasons, where you only have a certain timeframe to get stuff like in Pvp. Ultimates have no FOMO.

2. The content isn't locked for everyone but the first 100 players to clear it! Even if 100 people clear an Ultimate, all the other people who do it after them can still obtain all the rewards.
People cannot lock each other out of getting rewards. Even if 100 got people got it, people will always be able to obtain the weapons.
If this system existed for Ultimates, the rewards would only be locked to the first 100 players to clear it. People would rage pretty hard if Ultimate rewards could only be obtained by 100 players (and their alts).

3. The top PVE players cannot lock new players out of clearing Ultimates. Once you get your Ultimate clear you will always have it as top player and there is mostly no need to do it again. Maybe only for fun.
In Pvp the same top 100 players can always occupy the same spots for multiple seasons. Top players can even block out people from getting Top 100 by placing their alts in Top 100. This is not the case for Ultimates.

4. The content is locked to 100 players across multiple servers (Most of the time 8 servers per data centre). No other content in FF14 is locked to 100 people across multiple servers.
Other Pvp games have maybe a Top 100 system for each server and not Top 100 across 8 servers.

5. Ultimate/Savage Raiders only get 1 weapon/reward per Ultimate and then they are mostly done. Top 100 Pvp players get rewards every Season, which are mostly exclusive to those 100 players.
I could understand only getting 1 reward if you reach Top 100 once. Most of the time it is also not different players getting Top 100 exclusive rewards through several Seasons. It is mostly the same 100 people always getting the new exclusive PVP rewards every Season. What happens in the end is that Square Enix does design exclusive content for only those same 100 people every Season, which also cannot be obtained by other people.

These are some of the reasons why you can't compare Ultimate progression to Pvp. Because in the end Ultimates are easier to clear to most of the playerbase than Top 100 Pvp.
There is a reason why less than 0.1% of the playerbase has obtained top 100 Pvp titles on fxivcollect.
And it is not because it is extremely hard, but because the system to lock rewards to only 100 players instead of maybe more percentage based systems is bad system design.

I am not against ranked rewards. But locking them to only 100 people across multiple servers and also attaching FOMO to it is a waste of dev ressources for a very marginal group to me.

That's why I made the suggestion to start mailing physical top 100 rewards to people's homes. It'll be less of a headache I would think.

And let's be honest. Concerning savages and ultimates mount collectors are not going to care if they have gotten the mount the 'correct' way just as long as they have gotten it. I mean, have you noticed some of the hard to reach mounts be put up for grabs in some of the past tome events?

Honestly i dont understand why se doesnt make some furnishing trophies. That would be cute imho. Like a Big One for First 3 ppls, than a medium for top 30 and a small for top 100.

Which is why they just removed the rewards from CC/feast and moved them to the BP, everybody is happy save for the top players which honestly.... im ok with at this point. @TimotheusReed

You got it, that is exactly my point. Part of the reason I'm not willing to compromise is that there is hardly any compromise to be had - either the reward stays unique to the best of each DC or it doesn't. The only compromise I am willing to deal with is making it top x% rather than top 100, or at very least an increase in the pool (200-500 maybe).

Yoshida has expressed multiple times that Feast Top 100 rewards stay unique and won't be re-released. The one thing I could imagine him deviating on is the re-release, most likely however as another Trophy to compete for - i.e. Top X.

I agree with Yoshida's stance on the matter. No other content other than the World First race and Ranked PVP is a competition and to keep the proof of achievement true, official endorsement is given to top competitors. In PVP it happened to be unique ingame rewards, something Id think should be given to the top raiding teams as well.

But summed up, even had I not won my armour, I'd still believe the rewards should stay unique or at very least equally difficult to obtain.

alright, enjoy your cheaters and no fresh blood actually staying and trying. CC as it is currently will not keep anybody interested even with the rewards and you will have people cheating to get to the top past the people who gatekeep. and untill you get those rewards actually implemented by the devs im going to hold my ground and say 'No you do not deserve anything more then what you are getting in CC because you already got everything while feast was a thing, suck it up buttercup.'
