I can tell you didn't read the rest of what I said, when I mentioned my main jobs over the years and why I'm kinda done, but here. Just for you, I've tried...
MNK and DRG. Great time from 2.1 until 4.0, I enjoyed those years.
Then DRK, RIP in ShB when it became a baby boring Warrior, but hey! It was the only tank I still liked aesthetically.
MCH, RIP as early as 4.0 for me.
SAM on the release of 4.0 when most all I enjoyed felt shitty, had another great time all throughout the years with this one. Really loved it, easily my favorite class.
I went and gave GNB a go to replace DRK.
I dipped my toes into the mind boggingly simple slog that is healing with SGE. Insane that people actually play this game with a healer as their main class. I cannot fathom a world where I spent 500 hours in MSQ hitting my singular single target button were I a WHM or something :^).
I even went back and gave classes I'd dropped a new try! DRG is alright, for now. They want to make changes to it next, so forgive me for not being optimistic about its future. So yes, I have branched out. So many times.
That aside, to suggest Kaiten is just a skill and doesn't impact the flow of the entire class is disingenuous at best, not to mention the frankly stupid changes to Tenka Goken becoming a circle and the pathetic spread of potencies. These are issues too. None of this was done for the players, it was done for developers to have an easier times balancing. Fun was not part of the question. The changes are for THEM, not us. It's pure laziness and their claims that our feedback matters is a joke. They've just said that to try and placate us, given how silent they've been for months. They know what they're doing.
More power to you who still have a passion and enjoy this game, I wish I still had it in me, but I'm the type of player who's in for the gameplay. I love fighting games, DMC, Ninja Gaiden, old school type shooting games, tactical RPGs, RTS. Complex and rich experiences with compelling gameplay. I can settle with other things but this game is neither a sandbox nor made for exploration, nor other significant pass-times. Even the dungeons are straight lines that take you from fight to fight, so if the fighting sucks and is the meat of this game, you can imagine why I feel this way.
Edit: In case someone thinks I'm trolling, here are my current levels. I wish you all the best, I think FFXIV is a good game, but it could be so much better if every change to classes wasn't a dumbing down.

It's noted in one of those many threads that Kaiten wasn't working with additions they had planned, so it was really less about dumbing things down and more about making sure things functioned as intended. There's no denying the flow is different, but you'll be getting the same result, if not something better. If people need to be sad about it, go cry in a corner or something. Don't start harassing others who are genuinely enjoying it (with a fresh perspective no less).
The hard truth is none of your past experiences matter to those of us who haven't been there. You've no right to attack or try to deny people their joy or difference of opinion.
Just to correct this, since it isn't entirely correct. But they stated:
- To resolve issues with widely fluctuating DPS from critical hits, the actions Midare Setsugekka, Kaeshi: Setsugekka, Oga Namikiri and Kaeshi: Namikiri will now be guaranteed critical hits.
- To reduce action bloat, Hissatsu: Kaiten has been removed.
*In accordance with this change, action potencies have been adjusted
Pretty sure nothing about "Wasn't functioning with additions they had planned" was not mentioned in the notes correlating to this change.
Whether I agree with this or not is an entirely different matter in case anyone somehow manages to make my post synonymous with defending the decision.
So they replace it with nothing and leaves us hanging, apparently lie about feedback, and go diddle with the rest of the kit. For some reason. Sick. 10/10, amazing change and big effort!
If results were what matters most, we'd all have the braindead SMN rotations that play themselves I hear so much about. Well, maybe that's our future given how this is going.
Edit: I saw what you added after the post. I haven't attacked anyone, but people sure as hell seem bothered that I (admittedly, erroneously) announced my departure based on the reasons I did.
I would have just merged Tsubame Gaeshi with the Iajutsu, to be honest. Many classes can already flip between actions, so there is no real reason why it can't be applied, and, well... You can only use Gaeshi immediately following an Iajutsu anyway. But yes, you could just have placed Shoha II as a job trait and then have it as something like "Delivers an attack to all nearby enemies with a potency of 520 for the first enemy and 200 for all remaining enemies". In general, these feel much less inconsequential.
