GIVE CARBUNCLE SOMETHING TO DO/GIVE 90 SUMMONS GLAMOUR

I wish more people thought like this. The game and this full role would be at a so much healthier position right now...

I havent played any other FF games before. I started as a summoner because the description of the job appealed to me with this: "arcanists are also able to summon forth the familiar known as Carbuncle to carry out their bidding" - literal pet job.

So when people say jobs have identity... literally waduheck? :D

In any case, in previous patches the carbuncle did deal dmg, so I double do not understand their argument.

FFXI summoners also has alot of Advatars ( Primals) to use, and also can use Caith Sith which can use Reraise

If they could take Physic off SMN and give Carbuncle the ability to cast a minor heal between summons/phases that would be neat. I agree it feels weird to have Carbuncle out because he just kinda vibes there unless you want one of those small shields then he just goes back to vibing since you cannot shield others.
As for the summon glams I WISH They gave us alternate sets of summons to glam over them like Ifrit glam to Shiva, Garuda glam into Leviathan, Titan glam to Ramuh. Just something to give lil more options. Personally I would also love to be able to summon like Alexandar over Bahamut and Diabolos over Pheonix or some other options.

Just as an aside because I didn’t want to double post, but we are not talking about below level 89. Below 89 is irrelevant to this discussion because unless you’re doing ultimates or exclusively do SMN in roulettes with sync possibilities then it will be a very low chance you will actually have the pet glam system affect you: Which is why I am trying to say something. They’re literally removing a feature I love because of the customization to allow my character to summon who/what I want and not exclusively primals. If I want to summon small 4-legged creatures with a split tail that should be my choice, which is why I immediately picked back up Summoner when the feature was added in HW to do so. And then I molded my entire identity around Carbuncle but we won’t talk about that. But instead it’s been decided by people who want to be “epic” and summon the primals themselves.

I understand wanting customization options but it really doesn't make much sense to use a tiny Carbuncle construct to do the same things as the level 90 summons. In all games in the series the progression of a Summoner to a more powerful state is punctuated by the acquisition of stronger (and in most cases larger) summons. A massive Carbuncle could make sense but a tiny aetherial creature doing things that far surpass the amount of aether it's made of is silly. I would love to see an Embellished Carbuncle model. Something beefy and detailed and ornate at later levels as an option. The Carbuncle Mounts available on Mogstation already exist as an example of this. I'm really not sure why they didn't use these Mount Models as an upgrade for Carbuncle already. Taking them a step further and adding even more visual flare for level 90 would be very welcome in my opinion. I just don't think baby's first Carbuncle is an acceptable replacement for everything we summon at 90.

It’s okay if you feel that way. However I’d also like to point out a few things. Some prefer carbuncle to the big summons due to their size making them less distracting and in the way (even at their smallest they can be a pain). Some prefer the idea of something small doing nonsensically powerful things because that’s the fun of it to them (partially me, mostly I just like them).

But what I think is that if you don’t like the idea of tiny Carby doing something but enjoy the 90 summons and are okay with the option to be available then, imo, that’s the best state of mind. You should advocate for features even if you wouldn’t use them. I wouldn’t use non-Carbuncle summons but I wouldn’t want someone to get rid of them. I also would be all for altering the big summons to things we don’t have now.
But most of all, I support those Hroth who are seeing these horrendous hair styles dear god.

I cannot think of a logical reason to deny someone the request for more Carbuncles. All one has to do to make new ones is change the hue on a slider, and just like that you have a new one. I remember gathering all the different in-game weather effects for my Carbuncle's Ruby to unlock SMN back in FFXI. They didn't call that quest "I Can Hear a Rainbow" for nothing.

I might use them in harder fights myself, admittedly I have no strong bias towards or against the creature.

I really wish that I could glamor the level 90 summons to be carbuncles. :(
