Tips(monetary) for Tanks

Wtf lol, I've never heard of this before.

You can't trade in dungeons tho.

I have never got one for a dungeon run. I have got numerous for extreme PF trials. Like already having the mount, but running it anyway out of boredom or to keep my rotation sharp.

I don't ask for tips when I tank, but I don't refuse them...that's rude.

Midgardsormr's Novice Network is filled with trolls that are somewhat decent at their trade. It results in a lot of mentors in NN feeling the need to make sure that the trolls are not successful in their quest to give out bad information.

Yesterday's topics were especially good:

Tipping Tanks
It's not "worth it" for Bards to use songs in dungeons except for bosses (because apparently trash groups "die in 5 seconds")

There were a couple of others that didn't take off, but those were better than average.

I found it oh my gosh I forgot about that in the wall of text that is the tos. You can not advertise to get paid to give someone a clear but THEY can advertise to give you money for clear. My mind is officially blown at how weird this is. How....what they are literally both the same thing and this is common in many mmos. Unless scamming is an issue but if that is the case I swore there was something in the tos about altering the deal when making a contract with a player to give them gil for service. You can get action taken if you do not pay up or do not fufill the contract. That I did remember.

Yup; used to be ok and from YoshiP's interviews he is (was?) more or less fine with it personally..the problem is too many bad apples putting up ads and then using it for real money trade...so the call was to ban all "Mercenary Work" services entirely. It is 100% ok to offer to pay for services though.

Exactly this. There were several people in PF selling clears and then you joined and talked in Discord and found out that they were selling for real money. The MAIN problem was that those groups were crowding the party finder. Making it so they couldn't advertise has really cleaned up PF while still allowing people to offer (in-game) money to clear things if they want

I mentioned it earlier in the topic but this was a huge conversation on Midgardsormr's Novice Network yesterday and this person is clearly posting this in response to that conversation. Midgardsormr's NN has some quality trolls and it's difficult for new people to understand the difference between valid advice or information about community etiquette. It's also difficult for Mentors to understand the difference between sincere questions and concerns and these trolls.

I didn't think that this post would be necessary based off that conversation, but also don't know if this is a continuation of the trolling or someone humoring themselves by continuing to act like it is something that is or could be "a thing."


It started off with somebody asking how much you should tip your tank for a dungeon run, then someone said 'about 5k', someone else said 50k, other people said 'Wait? We're supposed to tip our tanks?', then eventually went into tipping uber drivers and Sonic carhops without really making it clear that tanks shouldn't be tipped.

Escaping Prae after Laha during moogletomes is the ultimate test of the party's reflexes. I am already zerging towards the portal before he's dead, are people still awake enough to comm me as one of those green or blue blocks?

It happens sometimes, despite my speed to escape.

I'm far too slow to even click a name to commend before the majority of the party escapes the duty. :(
