It's still an easier-to-develop option as opposed to having SE pour resources into ensuring that every piece of gear is designed around tails. Which is a big reason why some would want this option.

I wish that they were a bit more animated, and they're all too short I think especially for Hrothgar, on some outfits it looks like a poop poking out of the armor.
In gw2 the Charr had long tails, even if they clipped at least they weren't stubby and they wagged, and had life to them.
I think everyone with a tailed character would rather have the gear integrate our tails well.. however they're showing this isn't something they do with more than isolated frequency.. so the ask is.. "ok well if you're not going to pay attention to our tails looking weird, let us do it".
Its already in the store - its called changing your race
I hate the clipping with capes, but, I'm already frustrated and annoyed that all of the hats released over the last few years have just chopped my ears off completely, I don't want to lose my tail, too.
Viera and Hrothgar can't wear most hats that would interfere with their ears, Au Ra horns seem to just clip through things, and other races' ears are visible just fine because of where they are on the head, so it feels like Miqo'te players are the only ones who get one of our racial features chopped off just because. If they start hiding tails, too, I won't have any of my main identifying features aside from the eyes left.
This has already been fixed. That's the problem with linking a thread from 2017. Full body suits like those have made tails be hidden for years now. It's the reason they made that flag, and it's the one time it should be used because it makes logical sense: There's nowhere for it to go and it won't be seen.
Things like the moonward set are really jarring because you can clearly see it's missing from any angle that isn't directly behind you. The tail hide flag wasn't made to be used that way.
Gonna agree with the others, honestly. If you don't want a tail don't play a tailed race.
I also agree it's been frustrating as of ShB that they've also started just chopping miqo'te ears off, even in cases it would honestly be fine to just let them clip through (the straw hat comes to mind.) It's really kind of sad that gear accommodated the races in ARR better than it does now. Doesn't the game make more money, not less?
I'm glad they have, but I'm also aware that this has been a problem on a few body suits as recently as last year. I don't particularly LIKE those suits... but it skeeves me out when I see one and it's got the "goldfish poop" syndrome going on and I'm reasonably sure the people wearing them are probably not pleased either.
And if that bothers you then maybe don't use the option?
Of what consequence to you would it be if OTHERS could choose how they wanted their character to deal with their tail? This interest in what OTHERS can do that you don't want them to do for .. unknown reasons.. is one of the weirder positions I see on this forum.
Ouch. Just... ouch. :X
I don't. It's frustrating because the armor is otherwise really nice and it shouldn't be an issue to begin with. SE needs to do better. It's bizarre they think it's fine to just cut tails off when the vast majority of the playerbase plays races with tails and made the conscious choice to do so.
Because it's not consistent. It's the same reason people don't like when tails or ears get chopped off. You're trying take a thing and mold it into something it's not and was never supposed to be. It also just doesn't really address the core issue which is that SE doesn't care to support all the race options they have in the game. Viera and Hrothgar are the worst offenders here, of course, but they've gotten a lot worse about Miqo'te, Au Ra, etc. since ShB.
