It's not true.

Granted I don't spend a huge amount of time hanging out in the cities but the majority of shout spam I see is for RP venues on other worlds in the data center (it's rare that I see any for a venue actually on Coeurl). And there's only one repeat spam I've seen that heavily implies that it's an ERP venue (for a club on Goblin) without crossing the line to explicitly state it.

As you say, the OP seems to be overly sensitive. Blacklisting the venue spammers is an easy solution to clear the problem out of our chat windows. If a spam seems to be indicating activity prohibited by ToS, report it then blacklist.

Immediately report unsolicited ERP tells to the GMs as harassment. They will do something.

Whatever you do, don't reply to or otherwise interact with the player doing it. Any response could be interpreted as consent to the behavior.

Oh, I'm absolutely going to report it immediately. This isn't an ERP game. There is zero excuse for engaging in that sort of behavior with a stranger, or even with a friend/acquaintance who has never discussed an interest in that behavior.

Dude, even just standing around in Limsa on some servers seems to be an invitation for people to begin soliciting you in tells. Omega, Balmung, and Mateus are especially bad about it, though in Balmung's case there's more degeneracy in Ul'dah than Limsa.

I don't see what the big deal is with people advertising groups for intimate, hardcore, Extreme Raid Progression.

I will never forget that one time I was standing around Mateus!Ul'dah and some Miqo twink (from Balmung I think) was looking for a "Daddy" in Shout chat then started sending tells to any player that looked even remotely masculine. Usually it was just relentless shitposting interspersed with drama, so that was a funny diversion for about 10 seconds.

Unless you have in your search info degenerated stuff like carrds/flists or tags no one its going to bother you.

I usually have my /tells disabled so I don't care.

A lot of these are just clubs or pubs people have designed. Square even allows users to put tags on their houses for RP advertisements as Cafe, Bar etc they also sell housing skins for more aesthetics to match your venue of choice. Just because someone has a bar or a cafe or a club design in their house doesn’t suddenly make it a den of decadence erp central. Actually a lot of them are well designed and respectable establishments that people have put a lot of Gil and time into to make it work.

And that is where you are wrong. People get solicited on those servers all the time, and a fair portion of them do not in fact have weird degenerate crap on their search info.

Because standing around on those servers is solicitation itself, that's the culture of RP/ERP servers lmao
