Increase Castrum abandon penalty

No they should just make them quests you play through as a solo instance with npcs and just cut them as group content at this point. With only xp for the quest for sprouts obviously.

They don't have to be equal.
The fact is Prae gives pretty much twice as much EXP as Castrum - that is a massive difference for only 15 extra minutes of cutscenes.

As far as I'm concerned Castrum is an utter waste of time unless newbies need a clear, and I don't feel bad for abandoning it.

I wouldn't recommend such a change but the EXP and mog tome bonus could also be equal and I'd still prefer Praetorium lol


Praetorium takes longer to clear, but far less time spent actually playing.


It's a preferred roulette outcome for many people with busy schedules as Prae yields far greater opportunities to multitask.


Praetorium is generally a smoother run too.
Deaths outside of the second teleporter are quite rare, where I've legit experienced WIPES in Castrum a few times.

The run can take also longer if no one defeats all mobs during the CID section, fails to pick up a key or Ceruleum, or botches the Livia boss fight multiple times(This happens often).

Maybe they should delete both and just make it a cutscene. Till then I will take the L and leave castrum, allowing others to be free.

I didn't say make them the same, but they could make the difference between the two less extreme so people would have to think more about the choice to bail or not.

Why do people prefer Praetorium over Castrum? I woulda assumed it was the other way around sinec Castrum is faster to clear..at least it feels faster

I faaaar prefer Prae myself. While Prae is a bit longer, it requires much less attention and the actual fighting is pretty minimal. I can happily enjoy some videos on the other screen and I've timed the CSs so that I can actually get up and be semi-productive if I need to be during the longer breaks (laundry, bathroom, coffee, etc). It's a nice 45 minute brain-break.

Castrum on the other hand, it's shorter, but the pulls and CS are far more obnoxious to me as they're peppered in weird intervals. But with that said, I never drop. :3

Praetorium is about 2x the xp for only 15mins more. If you're leveling alt jobs that xp difference stacks up pretty quickly.

I agree castrum xp should be increased, if it was boosted to around 75-80% of what praetorium gives I think it would even out a lot better.

I mean yeah I guess, though it would be a lot of work to redesign both MSQ dungeons for basically zero benefit to the majority of existing players. You'd just have people complaining they can't get a free level per day from Praetorium anymore.
