Summoner Job and suggestions for Summonable Avatars

I think summoner does need a new twist or go back to its roots of the FF tradition to give it a quicker pace. It doesn't have to be 100% mage! Summoners have mystical ability, it shouldn't put them as a mage/pet class. I hope the DEVs break that trend from FFXI and give new life to a more versatile job. As a evoker/smn class/ job, you don't want to be in the back lines with the mages(who are suppose to nuke and heal at a safe distance). You want to be part of the action and deal damage and I hope the Devs are creative in making them act quick, cause damage and maybe go back to using their weapon(either a long delay range or two-hand high DD weapon).

I'd also like to see summons like phoenix, mist dragon, ark(ffix) atomos and anima as summonable.

aw phoenix for got all about that one. im ashamed to call myself a summoner. but Id rather have Ixion an electric Unicorn is a bit more sexy than a green snot looking monster lol.

Though now that i think about it. What IF gave Summoner the option to pick between 2 or 3 summons. Example you go to a Lightnign shrine and you can literally pick Either Ixion, Quezacotl, or hydra. Which would be cool cause then not every summoner would be exactly the same.

That is, in fact, true. Although I am halfway expecting Midgarsormr to reawaken at some point.

how do you know its that? I thought it was Shinryu since all the Primals popped out of it when it died. Hes a god dragon that wipes that the world clean to restart it anew. And in one ff i couldve sworn it said Shinryu eats other Summons.

I like that idea. Have like 2-3 different summons for each element, but you can only choose one and each has different moves.

like this? Ixion the DD lightning avatar its got a sword for a horn so why not? Quezacotl the more magic based one cause he looks squishy as hell. Hydra the Tank one cause its a god damn dragon its not going down easy.

Oh, it's directly mentioned as Midgarsormir in the... Monk questline, I believe. There was a post about it, too, by a player (I have not completed the quest myself). It's legendary dragon, said to be the guardian of the land and that none had seen in reality before it rose up to confront the garlean dreadnought, and when the thing crashed the detonated ceruleum froze it and the ship in that isle in Mor Dhona.

Hrm... Actually I will have to call that 'impossible'. The game has a signature piece of design: Everyone can have access to every class/ability and can freely switch between sets. Mind, if you have ideas that fit the streamlined nature of the current system and follow the very same 'absolute avaiability' paradigm that game follows, i'd love to hear those.
