I'm fine with parsers but I really don't like gameplay third-party plugins (like Cactbot). I've been forced to use triggers for prog before and it was an unenjoyable experience because I didn't feel like I actually learned anything. People should not conflate parsing and the actual gameplay-impacting plugins like Cactbot. The former IMHO is totally harmless.
I can see why people are wary of third party tools coming from WoW but they need to realize that parsing by itself is very different from things like DBM.
There's a difference between dumping in-game and dumping in-Discord. The latter is allowed depending on the rules of the server. The former is not.
I mean what can you do - report me for my VC chat in FFXIV?
I also loathe Cactbot. I personally view it as hampering your own progress in fights. So I agree.
It goes under datamining, because you get to see what the others is doing as well as it records to the same place all, combat logs should be private and SE can do something about that, so you can only see numbers of your own doing.
Commenting and using every possible chance to insult and crap down on people are a completely different thing Mia. I too get frustrated when i notice a permadead dps or a player who by use of his skills just does not the required amount of damage for savage or Extreme. But then i tell em that in a polite fashion and ask them to practice their Rotation before Entering harder content.
And yet this is done in a fashion that has nothing to do with the in-game chat.
I'd understand if people were being insulted in-game. As that's explicitly a bannable offense. But regardless of if a parser is used or not, harsh criticisms can still fly behind close doors. I'm 100% certain people had discussed me in an unfavorable light - but that's largely irrelevant because I've never heard it personally.
