Thoughts on Relocation removal

That's nice and congrats for doing all that, however not using it as an FC now (forever how long it's been that way). That is the problem still, regardless if you alone are in and out of it. It never should be used as a private home. Yes and you can always find loop holes by inviting your alts to keep it an FC, but that's the problem. Square Enix needs to close up these loop holes so that housing is fair. There are so many "real" FC's out there needing housing. So what I know is evidently plain.

And what I mean by 4 members minimum is they have to be "Active members", not alts or people that hasn't logged in a couple of months.You want FC housing then you need to take on the responsibility of recruiting to keep it that way. That's what real FC's do.

FC definition is A community of players coming together. There should be no such thing as solo FC's. That's not an FC.

I really like the idea of having a 90 day cooldown(or even longer) on relocation if it means we can still just acquire any open plot. That seems like it would be a fair compromise. Perhaps its something that could only be available in first come first serve wards?

I'm sad I was hoping to relo to a medium when people jumped ship to Ishgard. I wish they still allowed reloing for the older wards, but my med dream is dead.

Yea SE did express interest in introducing that feature and I was hoping to see it in EW but given they said nothing about it at all it seems not yet :( Though there is a chance some server voodoo would need to be done to enable a feature like that to be added, and well the recent enormous influx of new players causing congestion issues could have forced them to put that feature aside for the moment. I hope that's the case.

I have mixed feelings about this entire new purchasing system. I will say I am glad that SE did their best to make sure the lottery cannot be abused...well unless you own several accounts but there really isn't anything they can do about that.

I think I'll save my thoughts on this until I see exactly what Island Sanctuaries will provide. If they provide a house you can decorate at least as well as the current houses, then the new buying systems are going to be a significantly smaller issue than they appear to be right now.

I've shared this thread on a housing discord server and it seems that a lot of people are putting their expectations on Island Sanctuaries, despite very little information being shared about them. Hopefully it is as you say, and it will live up to people's hopes, but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't as ambitious as everyone is making it seem to be (or that more complex features such as housing will be added much, much later). Who knows, though! I'm excited to see what they're about either way.

Wistful to see it go --- on the other hand I know it needs to go to truly terminate the reselling. So, uh, thanks house flippers >_o
The FC leadership reform too. So maybe the good will outweigh the bad at the end? I hope so.

Well, my newest saving for FC house upgrade is done, so, I might test the lottery whenever that rolls around to see how that works ;)
Buut... I also know people will never stop complaining about something new next...

I assume the relocation "discount" will be unaffected by the changes, not that amounts to much. Someone who currently owns a small would only get 446-558k gil applied toward the purchase price of the new plot. It may as well be full price at that point.

No need to remove outdoor decor with instanced housing. Outdoors can be a part of the instance just as much as the indoors.

A better solution is to remove Outdoor Furnishings as a category and move those items into the other categories. Why should I not have a Carbuncle table on my lawn to go with my Carbuncle Bench, or Lattice Planter alongside my Doman Dogwoods?

I don't think anyone has the facts wrong here.

Solo players were not intended to have workshops all to themselves. Otherwise SE would have allowed workshops to be added to personal homes instead of limited to FCs.

I know people like to point to "but SE removed the light party requirement on the fabrication station" but that was to solve a different problem, not because they wanted solo players operating workshops for personal profit.

You did in fact exploit the system. SE is going to continue to allow you to exploit the system for since none of the changes are addressing workshop access.

The only thing that is changing for you is that you will no longer be able to relocate your FC, or purchase additional FC houses on the same world using your alts.

It shouldn't be a dead dream, just one more difficult to obtain. You'll still be able to enter the lottery or camp the placard for your chance along side everyone else who would like that plot.

There will never be enough housing available to meet demand, especially since this game's popularity has been skyrocketing for the past 2 years.

3 years ago on Mateus you could find several plots open at once and I got my first personal house, which was a beachfront cottage in the Mist with zero competition sometime shortly after the placard system was introduced. Now, you may find one or two plots open and they'll be camped by at least 20 people, many of which are automating the process. I would be surprised if anyone could load into a housing ward if a medium or large happened to be up for sale because there are sure to be a ton of people camping it if it's under the placard system. A lottery is more convenient but the odds are going to be even worse.

So, yes, the dream a lot of people have of upgrading their house size is going to be dead for all intents and purposes. Resellers are no doubt making a mint right now as a lot of people will be reaching that conclusion and this is their last best chance to get something.

I agree that it will always be a problem as long as SE continues to focus on wards instead of working on an enhanced instanced system.

But that still doesn't mean that someone who really wants that medium or large won't be the lucky recipient in a lottery once that is implemented. It means that getting the medium or large during 6.0 is going to require placard camping and a bit of luck. At least you'll finally get to see those mediums and larges become available when relinquished/demolished and have a decent change. Right now that doesn't happen because the resellers using the bots are all over them within minutes.

I don't think there is a good solution to this issue. As others have pointed out, housing in this game is so limited that it's a lose-lose situation.

I think adding larger apartments would help in the short term.
