Any job I love in a MMO, I wouldn’t wish it to stagnate this badly. it is far worse to submit with a “just how it is, don’t fix what isn’t broken” as it’s a recipe for unambitious design than vent.

Or be one of those forum white knights that swears the game would be better if everyone stopped having opinions. Games not perfect MCH isn’t perfect not was it perfect enough to stagnate. That’s the argument, and the best counterclaim to it I’ve seen is “stop dreaming of a better job”

I mean I haven’t seen any numbers yet so I’ll hold off on that, and even then I feel this is greatly exaggerated as even now the PHY doesn’t feel so underpowered that it’s being excluded, seen some PF that have thanks to these claims. EXs and a few Savage content I’ve joined I still manage to clear and even out DPS some melee and casters because I remain alive longer. Idk potency needs to be really really REALLY Low for me to critically say “All PHY are useless” with a striaght face

They'd better remove that tax.
I've looked again at SMN, they only cast outside of summons and during Ifrit, two casts to be exact.
And there is no interruption between summons.

With a dash, Summoner is now more mobile than MCH. And that's in the case of Flamethrower being useless for another two years.

Im pretty happy with MCH. Even happier they didn't change it too much and I won't have to relearn my rotations.

I know right, why should I compare a caster that is heavily supportive against a "selfish" ranged dps. Both in rdps and pdps mch is behind something having a rez, a heal, a damage buff, an okayish movement, a very easy rotation just because we can freely move.

I don't think any top end player are asking for it to be first dps, especially with the actual kit, just not have 10% less than EVERY dps that isnt rphys, while you dont have anything remotely useful for the party nor dps. and yes, even at 10% percentile, mch is still behind, so it's not a problem of it being good at low lvl. If it wasn't for the 1% raid buff by existing, there would be no reason to actually take a rphys.

I say again, MCH isn’t that perfect for it to receive nothing. SHB brought it back to basics and simple rotations, it was under this mindset that EW would’ve improved upon its baseline not have it remain the same. But if the players need another crutch job alongside DNC? Why?

I have mixed feelings about MCH.

In Stormblood (and HW), MCH was pretty special. Hard to play, because it requires some kind of tunnel vision to take care of your procs, rotation and other stuff. MCH-Mains very rare and that feeling was great. You mastering a job, where most ppl just give up. MCH was extremely unpopular and SE didnt know for years, how to fix that. The MCH-comm brought tons of good advices, but got keep unheard (sounds familiar, healers).

But on the other hand, any mistake or death were extremely punishing. It was extremely frustrating when your run is ruined just by some random dude killed you or didnt want you to heal right. Even having no meta (DRG + NIN) affected your dps more than anything.

All that changed with Shadowbringers, where EVERYBODY is know MCH-Main! Procs gone, Utility gone, half of your skills gone and everything got streamlined to the bottom. MCH became the Ranged-Samurai. Hell, it doesnt matter if you die or playing your rotation completely wrong, you re still making more damage than most other jobs. Its now a brain-dead job.

The big question is: is it good or is it a bad thing?
To be honest, I kinda miss the time, where you need to put much effort in mastering MCH. On the other hand, I hated how everyone in my group could mess up my damage. The only thing which didnt changed is the flow of the MCH. Its still stylish and is still fun to play. And because its very popular now, I dont expect much changes or a rework.

Somthing that adds life to the job but not taking away from its current gadgeteer flare. Looking at the numbers, the majority of players thinks that way. That kind of ingame metric is what the devs look at, not the forums, thankfully.

What if some of the more random things where better themed?

Flash as an AOE interrupt?
Noiseblaster as an AOE Stun?

Improve on the role mechanic give away abilities.

I want to save the dehabilitator for level 99+1....


FLAMETHROWER looks powerful, but most of the attack set, well... dosen't.
