They could look at limits by class or something. Means you'd have to run the content on the given class, but at least you could keep that class geared up.

There's currently:
Savage Raid Gear.
Tome Gear.
Normal Raid Gear.
Crafted Gear.
Relic Gear (Bozja)
Alliance Raid Gear.
Latest Dungeon Gear.

They might not all be the BiS or highest ilvl, but they're all viable endgame gear that will get you through anything up to Savage.
You have plenty of ways to gear up every job you play, doesn't mean every job will be BiS for Savage though.

This is bothers me significantly more than the tomestone cap. You're encouraged to play every job on one character but good luck getting BiS on more than 1 when you're only able to even have a chance at savage loot once a week but everything is coffers as well so you gotta roll on it against 7 other people.



The change to coffers was great for statics since you have less useless drops but it was an atrocious change for pugs.

Absolute BiS is mostly a reward from Savage.
Which means you're already clearing Savage with other gear. Typically a mix of Crafted and Tome gear, or the previous tiers Savage gear.
So you can absolutely gear up multiple jobs to a level at which you can play Savage content with them, they just won't be BiS, but this shows that's not necessary. Not all obviously, not as many as you can gear up for regular, non-Savage content, but at least 2-3.

There's far too many sources of gear for this to be needed.

My issue wasn't about simply gearing a job, it is specifically about BiS. The need for BiS is rather limited, mainly ultimates and/or log runs but when you're trying to gear multiple jobs for said things it becomes a pain in the backside, even more so when they're not within the same role category. Of course you don't need BiS to do savage, you can do that in crafted gear, but that's also not what I was talking about.


The change from gear pieces to coffers actually made even just gearing your main job harder if you're pugging the fights, because you can safely assume that everyone in the pug is always gonna roll need on every coffer, even if they already have the item that just dropped.

If you're pugging, everyone wants gear anyway. That's why they're there.
If you're rolling on specific gear, then you have a 1/7 chance, as there are 7 gear sets, or a 14% chance.
If you're rolling on coffers, you have 1/8 chance, rolling against each other player, or a 12.5% chance. 1.5% difference.
Now, if you're with other players who share your gearset, tanks, healers, MNK/SAM for example, then you have a 1/14 (7%) chance if the drops are direct gear instead of coffers. With coffers, it's still 1/8.
So you can see that Tanks and Healers were always screwed over by direct gear drops, coffers practically doubles their chances.
