The bugs were themselves known as Gargans; aside from Gargan Roo (a facility built for quick travel between Alexandria and Treno) they also live in the wild in another cavern known as Fossil Roo as well as around the Iifa Tree's roots.

FF9 is my favorite in the series so I'll take literally anything from it lmao
Fandaniel's architecture in the trailer does look very Terran, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Pandemonium pulls more from 9's version than 2's.
Alphinaud says something along the lines of "Since these guys aren't mind controlled and are doing this of their free will, we'll show them no mercy." Usually, that means death. Or at least to me it highly suggested death, the same way we killed Ran'jit because he was serving out of free will.
I mean, they're not explicitly dead. Like I said, their fight with us was the last we ever heard of them. Nobody ever mentions their bodies, living or otherwise. Even Ran'jit got a "Nobody knows what happened to Ran'jit's body." comment, but the girls? Nothing at all.
If the writers had any plan to bring them back, they've had a wealth of opportunities to do so. I'm not holding my breath for a surprise appearance in the hinted at but not confirmed festival Ryne and Gaia are working on for 5.5. Or for them to turn out to be Ryne's older sisters, having come to Eulmore as a package deal with her, thus giving them an avenue to know any hidden truth about her. Or to fuse together into a Ferdiad/Forgiven Rebellion clone. Or anything at all.
Pretty sure they're stone cold dead just like their father, Ran'jit.
