Because, beyond first getting the ability, you're not going to scan it every time.
This guy is taking light damage, a HoT will do the trick.
This guy is eating a ton of damage, I have to use the big heal.
The group is taking damage, I use the aoe heal.
You have a tool for each task. Potency, at the core, is just an encapsulation of all the math into an easily digestible chunk. It gives you all the information you need. If you want more than that, it's also derivable.
Rather than individually checking every single tooltip every time your gear changes, you hit Cure 1, look at the number, and instantly know what the rest of your kit can do.
But, admittedly, it'd be harmless to have a toggle showing you the end result as well, so meh.
I would love for secondary stats to give you a comprehensible percentage of your crit and direct hit rating.
If only to know how often I can expect a special effect to happen.
3000 Crit rating is meaningless to me, where as 20% crit chance is much more understantable.
It's not even about min maxing, it's just about knowing the basics of the game and be able to play around it.
Yeah I couldn't believe that there was no raw stat data. Like, actually mind blowing. What kind of an MMO is it where your stats are hidden? What is this, BDO? LMAAOOO
