It's petty, but I ignore most MB listings that undercut by 1 gil

I think the bots tend to provoke people into doing bigger undercuts specifically because of the sheer frequency with which they'll pester people with one gil undercuts.

The problem is they don't care how cheaply they have to sell something and are willing to set their price floors over 100K lower then what the current market price is so they'll just keep playing the game of "how low can you go" with everyone until people start backing off.

Buy whichever listings you like, undercut by as little or as much as you like. It's a free market and as a player driven market no one is entitled to sales and nothing has to be guaranteed to sell. The idea that the other guy "ruined your sale" or your market is nonsense. None of the markets belong to anyone.

You just have to accept the MB for what it is, volatile and unpredictable short-term but a consistent income long-term if you're patient and stick with it.

I ignore listings that undercut by 1%.

Would be nice if that was just the bots, but watching prices of things drop 35-50% in the span of a day or two, while they're actively selling at the high end of the price range, is one of those realities caused by people who have absolutely no idea how not to crash markets (or who are intentionally doing it).

Some of the crossbreed seed markets have gone into tailspins, because why sell them for what people are paying for them when you can list 100s for half the cost.

Basically this. I trust the market to stabilize itself even with undercutters. In the end, it's all about supply and demand. If the undercutters have sold their items, and i'm next on the list, then my item will sell regardless of its price. If it didn't, it means i'm not matching the demand anymore.
I always look at the history to see if there is demand for the item, and always try to sell in reasonable stacks. Then, i just set my price to what i think is the average of the recent sales, and see how it goes from there. In most cases, the item sells within a couple days, and i'm able to make some profit.

I really don't care about the 1gil undercut.
That being said, it does get me a bit mad when people tank the market and lower the price of an item by a lot for no reason.
Not so much because it means that i have to wait longer to sell (as said above, i'm somehow okay with that), but mainly because if all the other sellers decide to follow the trend and lower their prices as well, the item just straight up loses all its value, and everyone sells for way lower than what was originally possible.

For instance, i have seen items which were originally selling for 100~120k on my server, and who went down to about 50k in only a couple days just because undercutters flooded the market with unnecessary and underpriced stock ... It's part of the game, but i still find it annoying.

So in conclusion, i would say that i'd prefer having someone undercut me by 1gil rather than x%. At least in most cases i'm able to sell my item for its "original" value (even if i have to wait).

The first listings are constantly undercutting each other so it doesn't really matter who you buy from.

They did, but as far as I understand rates still apply meaning you will still pay more in one city than another for an item listed at the same price and qty. MB players are still going to have to be mindful where they place items for sale and for how much.

This. I want my money, but I sure as hell ain't going to take a hit in profits when I can maximize with minimal loss by undercutting by 1 gil. I want it sold and to get that glorious 600k. I'm not going to be foolish and lower it by a large amount when that means I get LESS money.

I will admit if someone undercuts my listing by 1 gil I tend to list about 20 of that same item at a 50% undercut out of spite.

Know that I'll crash the market if I have to; maybe even if I don't.
