MSQ cutscene skipping against TOS?

The roulette is there for new players, not the rest of us. The only reason the roulette gives so much experience is because the cutscenes were locked and the frustration the developers naturally understood this might cause. If you don't like it don't do the roulette it's that simple. The only way the skips will ever be brought back is if the experience for the roulette is nuked from orbit back to what it used to be - and SE would sooner turn those instances into solo-trust ventures than do that. There is no 'problem' here as the skips are against what SE wants, and thus against the TOS.

You won't hear from a GM from within the game on the forums. They don't work on here. You MIGHT hear from a form GM or a Community Rep, but most likely you won't. You could ask a GM inside the game, but they will probably tell you it against ToS as well because it is. I know you don't want to hear that. I know there are other things in the game that break ToS and that bothers me as well. As for Black & White, it is Black & White, you break ToS you risk suspension or a ban. Do a lot of people get away with it? Yes, they do. A lot of other people do not and have received suspensions or bans. I'm not saying these things are right and neither is anyone else here (I don't think) nor is anyone White Knighting. They are simply telling you it is against ToS and anyone who uses the exploit to skip the cutscenes in the MSQ are risking their accounts.

OP, as many people have stated, the inability to skip cutscenes in the MSQs was put in place because players doing it for the first time were being harrassed or kicked because they wanted to watch the cut scenes. So think about this, you use this exploit to skip them but the rest of your party doesn't. Or part of the party does, but there are people in the group that want to watch them. Those who skip either start harrassing the people who aren't to use the exploit as well, or run ahead and do the fights - if you are the only one skipping, you will have to do the fights by yourself - and the new players who haven't done it before are getting their experience ruined. Which is why they made cutscenes unskippable and gave the 2 msq dungeons such big rewards to compensate for the time spent, so new players wouldn't have their experience ruined. What would the purpose be for you to use the exploit if no one else in the group is not, you won't get it done any faster.

I wouldn't do this with a first timer in the party. This is something we would do for the runs that everyones been in here before and want's to finish it quickly. Think of it as speed running a dungeon. This can be fixed by doing something so simple, if it really is a problem that SE doesn't want to happen. It's something that's been going on sense they added the no skip cutscenes.

This is in a grey area and I guess for most there is no such thing as grey areas and it's purely "you follow the rules to the T and anything you do that is no 100% intended is wrong, no matter how little it could be" Theres so many grey area topics that I could bring up to my point that SE doesn't ban you for but as they're in the grey zone, I don't want to bring them up in case this post gets locked or deleted. It's like an unspoken rule that both sides agree on but only in the conditions are right and the unspoken rules are followed. I'm not sure if you will know what I'm referring to or not but I just wanted to finish this off by letting everyone know I'm not for skipping if someone is new and they want to enjoy it.

This! And also why during the Moogle Event going on you get the most Moogle tomestones from Praetorium (the longest MSQ dungeon) and 7 for the other. It's to reward for sitting through the cutscenes as well as so much xp for doing these. It's to reward "veterans" for running these so that the new people get to do their MSQ AND not have their experience ruined.

They already "fixed" the issue. We can no longer skip the cutscenes. This was a fix that the player base brought on itself, sadly. As such, there is no grey area in regards to this. The rules are what they are, and SE will do whatever they want with them. So, again, we must follow these rules or risk being punished. It's a pretty simple concept. We don't always have to like the rules, but we have to follow them. You might have a problem with "black and white" responses, but it simply...is black and white.

And if a newbie ended up in the dungeon with a group who wanted a speed run they'd either abandon or kick the newbie to get their speed run. There is no 'nice' way to fix this. The community has proven to be terrible with these instances so we don't get the cookie and the ability to eat it anymore. We had our chance.

So what if you do it with a full 8 man premade?

So what if someone legitimately d/cs during these cutscenes? They're gonna get banned for that too?


Unless people are incredibly stupid and say something like "I'm going to force d/c now so that I can get through this dungeon faster, nyah nyah" before they do it, they cannot 100% verify this sort of thing.

If someone legitimately d/cs, they will typically be a few minutes getting back because the game has to officially log them out first before they can log back in. If someone is skipping, they will typically go offline at all too convenient times and come back. They will also hit the ground running and rush ahead. If it happens one time, no harm no foul. If someone repeats that action then it is PROBABLY safe to say that they are intentionally skipping. Even if it's unintentional it's likely still a ToS breach. They can't exactly make exceptions to rules that they firmly have in place so they can keep things tough but fair. But someone can appeal the decision and win if there is enough evidence proving that they weren't guilty. People make mistakes, including GMs.
