Nothing wrong with encouraging your tank to pull more
I only use shirk to kill off healers don't like. Its funny when happens.
You're really, REALLY reaching there. Not only are you *telling* him what his own motives are in the deepest recesses of his mind, you're warping his opinion to fit what you want him to think and claiming he has sociopathic tendencies.
Argue the point if you want, your opinion on the matter isn't invalid, but don't resort to such disingenuous tactics.
First of all YIKES, calling people sociopaths that casually is not healthy my dude.
Second, I get wanting to control your character, but if your character is standing out in Narnia and I've got aoe healing to do, I'm sure as shit gonna take whatever minor discomfort being pulled in will cause you to make sure you don't die, ie the ultimate taking away of control of your character.
Third, when you report GMs have access to the full log of the dungeon including the battle log, so if you report someone for rescue abuse they can try and peace together what happened, ie search for key word rescue followed by X has died
In the MSQ roulette I love playing around with the other healer (after I've determined they'd have fun too from talking and stuff)- it's been a lot of fun pulling the other person through every AoE possible XD.
At one point we rescue'd each other at the same time which caused us to swap places and we both triggered the black pitch (black aoe Lahabrae puts down) as we moved through each other's AoEs and the ones between lol.
I love rescue :3.. I actually wish SE would make a toy box of abilities and items (a bit like WoW to be honest), where we could have goofy spells and skills. Like Dragoon having a jump mount mode that allows them to hyper jump so long as they've unlocked flying in the zone. Priest mind control in WoW was hilarious fun, grabbing players and walking them off the cliff XD.
To be clear I'm not telling or supporting people to play around on others who don't want to be, don't rescue people into stuff if it's going to be a problem (for the party or that particular player). I've also used rescue to save people from a number of AoEs and regularly save people in instant kill positional moments like that one in the Labyrinth with ancient flare.
Sorry if people are getting trolled and not having fun.. just want to say I've had fun with it and also want to note while I want to see more toys I'm okay if some of these are more optional goof abilities (toybox concept stuff, though I don't think rescue counts as a toybox- its actually helpful. . . using rescue wrong is just like refusing to raise, both could be very troll-y but that's the life of playing with humans lol). So more like if you could mind control a player it'd be based on consent sort of thing, or like I thought the hold a lalafell on your shoulder/holding hands could be a good pillon mount but again that'd have consent.
His argument is that Healers should be able to wrest control of other peoples characters away from them without their consent for some sense of greater good. "I want to be able to forcibly play your character for you," is a sociopathic mentality; as is pretending it's necessary. Sociopathy doesn't only exist in extremes; all I'm basically saying is that people like that are control freaks, and what they want isn't necessarily what's good for a game like this.
So you think having option to accept is worst than being dragged to new location and having your attacks canceled. Must not been playing very long or you know if don't hit accept nothing happens and your telling me it mess with your rotations. I think it is very good idea how to fix the problem. We sure didn't need this skill in ARR for the savage content.
Sociopath just means anti-social; that's obviously not a compliment but it's also not anything extreme. I didn't say anyone was a violent or psychotic sociopath.
Also, I still don't see the problem with allowing people the option to consent. If they don't want you controlling their character and they die that's on them. Trying to force your will on them is anti-social of you.
