I think the dungeon final boss music (Batraal, Chimera) is a great battle track and I'm a big fan of the Goobbue mount music... I think the Grand Company music is also pretty good, but overall there's a lot of tracks in 14 I feel are a bit lacking, and while I felt many tracks in XI were lacking as well there were enough good tracks to balance it and make it overall really great.
The music in this game isn't horrible but, only a few songs really make me feel grand, esp when it comes to the battles. I think battle music is the most lacking part right now. I would hope in the future to see each dungeon have its own soundtrack, like Ifrit and Moogle have their own. -

Ugh, I hate synths. They work in some tracks, but generally I prefer the orchestral sound.
I'm generally happy with the music in this game, though I'd like to see more of an overall "theme song" as others have mentioned.
Right now my biggest annoyance is the Chocobo music. Being able to call your mount anywhere hasn't done that booming song any favors. Nine times out of ten I'm riding my Chocobo, and it seems like all I ever hear is that damn song. It would be really nice to have an option to simply disable mount music. When crossing Coerthas, I'd much rather relax to that music than BO-NA-NA-NA BON-NA-NA-NA BAM BAM! -
