Selene likes to do that all the time too.
I get it though, if a pack is running one direction (like the bats in the one temple) and the tank is running in the other without trying to ball them a little bit, they're going to miss getting an ae hit on one about 99% of the time from what I've seen.

HM's new meta was spam Glare and then use Assize for raid-wide damage and throw out Afflatuses on a whim and everything else is their cohealer's problem.
White mage has 6 or 7 off gcd buttons to press to heal you or regen you.
If you NEED an actual regen for most content, remember to put your visible gear back on. If you dont NEED it, im gonna get 300 potency damage instead.
Healers would probably like if this wasnt how they worked these days, but the 14 team has no idea how to make MMO healing work, so healers are dealing with it in the only way they can, which is pewpew more damage pewpew.
If you have a paladin, your white mage should NEVER hardcast a single-target gcd. Its stupid.
My gosh, and here I was thinking I was the only one noticing this trend.

My FC can vouch for my recent frustrated rantings of WHM cohealers who must've missed their Regen job quests. Ever since getting into the EX trials (on AST), most WHM cohealers I've come across treat their HoTs (especially Regen) like the plague and are more preoccupied spamming Glare while I'm sitting unnerved over in Noct stance wondering if they just expect me to exclusively keep the MT healthy so they can keep up their DPS rotation.
This behavior really blew up with the recent release of Eden to the point where I openly questioned if slapping Regen on the MT became some sort of "overhealing" and WHM's new meta was spam Glare and then use Assize for raid-wide damage and throw out Afflatuses on a whim and everything else is their cohealer's problem. I mean I can deal with that, but damn, have some decency to throw Regen on the MT before you start abusing your Glare button. Maybe I really shouldn't be in Noct Stance unless I get double AST?
I always regen the group and have it on the tank at all times. Not only does it mean I don't usually have to direct heal them afterwards (dps not the tank) but it can proc the free cast medica to save MP. I hate doing lower dungeons where I can't use regen or medica II.
The reasons I see people likely not using regen is because:
A. You WILL pull hate from tanks if they have on during pulls. (obviously some tanks can mitigate this to some extent.) This -can- wipe a party due to backtracking and more hate being lost due to more required heals and mistimed cooldown usage.
B. Heals are not required on the tank currently so GCD is more effectively used on damage.
C. EVERYONE is taking sporadic damage due to handling mechanics poorly and slapping a regen on a DPS who should not be taking consistent damage is not a good strategy. Medica II is going to be a better option here or in many cases a regular single target cure, this especially if they fail two mechanics in a row, regen will not save them.
D. All the damage needing any sort of reaction currently is just AOE. Sometimes regen is still viable in these situations but likely going to waste some GCD.
Even if these reasons are situational. It is evidence that regen itself is situational. Regen is not like a DOT because it has no usefulness if it is not actively healing and becomes a wasted GCD and MP if the healing was unnecessary. The times regen is going to save lives is limited. Mostly only useful on large pulls where healing the tank becomes a race. The added healing is a blessing.
Regen + Benison = Time to Holy. Seriously once the tank is done pulling (or sometimes appears to be then decides to move after two seconds for some reason) I throw those up and get to spamming my DPS.
Usually by the time the stuns wear off, the bubble pops, and the regen is over I have myself a lily to restore whatever hp might have been lost. Is it optimal, probably not, but nobody has ever asked me to stop so...*shrug*
It's a simple matter of, in raid encounters, White Mage has a variety of other healing options that *don't* eat a GCD, and if they do - they contribute to DPS. Regen is most useful in dungeons, I find.
