to tell the truth FC system overall needs a lot of updates, and maybe more space to be added for the Chest. It has been untouched I believe ever since early ARR. And Free Companies takes a huge part in such a game for communities within in general.

When re arranging my fc i had to move 100+ ppl rank to a new one as the game has the 4 base ranks and the lowest of them is the default rank ppl get when joining, wich sucks.

Basically i had everyone on the lowest rank promoted to Newbie II rank while ppl that just join get to Newbie I and literally cant do anything, which is mean but well... gotta be carefull.

Trust me we've done our simple investigation properly, we are absolutely 100% sure that the member was a victim.

But even to assume they are not, the fact that such a trick can be used (promoting above your rank) is highly questionable so the case remains for the game system to be fixed considering the givings of this issue.

If the account was 'hacked' through the game itself then maybe there's a technical issue there, but chances are his login details were obtained outside of the game itself.

Regardless, what we are concerned about is the possibility of promoting above your own rank, so it's not a people issue otherwise we wouldn't try to have an action from the developers.

We did test it, but only after the issue. we were really unaware of it beforehand. To us, or me personally it makes complete sense that anyone automatically should be unable to promote above their rank. Sorry to sound this silly, but i can't imagine myself promoting my supervisor at work to kick our general manager from the company, then we put the company owner into a position where they can't do anything bout it.

This happened to our FC about a year ago and lost 50 or 60mil gil, hundreds of grade 6 materia and a bunch of other expensive things. A report was immediately sent to a GM about 5 minutes after the fact and they investigated it but said there is nothing they could do about it. The player not only had their account hacked but it was deleted permanently after the theft. I can only presume that this person hacked the account, got what they wanted, traded it with their alt/other friends and deleted all characters on the account immediately after. It's sad to know that GMs didn't rectify the situation but a kind soul donated 50mil gil to the FC after hearing about it and the rank permissions have been greatly changed since then and only our FC leader can promote/demote/withdraw gil. 2-step security is important my dudes.

OMG...

I had no idea about the Promotion/Demotion privilege being this way... that explains why my past FC where only the FC leader can promote/demote people.

I guess when I get back online I will have to change those privileges completely and talk to my husband about the changes. What a pain... :(

By the way, my heart goes to you OP and your FC....

It might help if there was actually something that said what permission did what. I was looking the other day for this but could not find it anywhere even trying to google it I could not find descriptions of what permission did what exactly. (there are blog posts and such but I could not find any official documentation)

Understanding it has only made me go from not knowing this problem exists to knowing how it DOES work and thinking that it's... silly.

It should work as a hierarchy. It's illogical that it doesn't when ranks provide permissions such as this.

As a note, this isn't a jab at you or anything - realized it might kinda come off that way. I'm more just baffled by the fact that this IS how it works. It's not intuitive at all that the ranks aren't actually ranks.
