As I have just recently leveled an alt, by the time this alt got to level 70 and finished Stormblood's MSQ to prep for Shadowbringers, the Chocobo was just shy of rank 7. It's still worth around 1k or so DPS, which for a fully kitted out tank or healer is around a 15-25% increase.
Leave that on the table and it isn't the Dev's fault.

Yes, but if the event comes to pass that our Chocobos are necessary to kill a basic overworld mob at a reasonable speed that would absolutely be a failure on the Devs part. Don't act like it would be a reasonable workaround in any situation, it's not. It would make the leveling process absolutely tedious, not to mention idiotic.
Would also make instance events/quests where you can't summon your Chocobo absolutely dreadful.
I am tentative on that being an issue however, simply due to the media tour being an earlier state of the game and as they kept reminding us: potency is subject to change. On the other hand they haven't given me much reason to be hopeful with their changes so far, so I guess we'll see if it's an issue. -

Yeah... I'm not looking forward to the solo instances and such. I came back after stopping in 4.0 and I came back... er.... I think right before 4.4? Before Suzaku, but after Tsukiyomi, that area of the time. I was trying to unlock stuff so I could get some gear upgrades and that since no queues were popping for stuff and I failed a DPS check for one and barely passed it the second time because the NPCs actually used the limit break competently that time around. It was the one where you had to fight all those giant robot things and they self-destructed on you after a time. Then you had like 4 of them you had to kill all in a short time period. I will grant that I was slightly undergeared for the encounter, but if the DPS's ability to DPS and tank abilities to DPS keep going up and ours are getting chopped off... that makes me nervous for more situations like this even just leveling up and completing the main story.
OMG yeah I remember that other one with Genbu? or the guy who was going to replace Genbu with Tataru in the mix. UGH that fight was sooooo long too ><;
But yeah, I have a feeling solo questing and solo instances are going to be as fun as watching paint dry in 5.0.
