The community always finds a way
When you know a fight, it becomes easy. Cause you KNOW IT. Not everyone knows it, especially the new players that are q’ing for this, and even older players who are far out of practice. Just because you find it is easy doesn’t mean it’s easy for everyone else.
So yea it’s pretty obvious how people screw up Titan ex.
I've never run it, but aren't the rewards for mentor roulette lower than everything except guildhest anyways?
Also unrelated to the quoted post: aside from the crown next to your name and a roulette, access to the *only* global chat in the game guarantees mentor status will stay a hot ticket item for people uninterested in mentoring new players.
The mentor rewards anyone cares about, are from the achievements for succeeding at the duties that the roulette places you in. After 2000 successes, you get a big 2-seater mount. Prior to the recent FFXV car mount, it was the only multi-seater mount that you could get without jumping through hoops outside of the game (in-game marriage, invite a friend to play, or just buy one off the Mog Station)
I don't see the draw of a global chat, but I guess that's why I never enter the NN.
The entire point of the mentor roulette is actually to make duty finder go faster for the community at large. Say every mentor wants to go for at least 2000 roulettes to get the mount. Then say each mentor runs the roulette daily, and well there is quite a lot of mentors out there so that’s thousands of spots filled per day, this is also why the requirements to be a mentor aren’t that high. Also, a lot of people q’ing for stuff daily don’t *want* mentors help, they just want to clear stuff. Players generally don’t like it when people lecture them on how to do content.
But sure we can help these people clear and teach if we need to. But we can also teach them a more efficient way of clearing it, or if they want to truly do it synced we teach them a more efficient way of doing it synced, aka party finder, and then you can join that party finder and teach them all the mechanics sure.
I agree with the majority here, but anyone who wants tp leave (due to whatever reason) should have a penalty as a consequence (as per rules), my point is it is not fair to others to ''go afk'' then re-queue for another mentor roulette. like why are you even here if you don't want to try and help :/
You don't go into Seiryu Extreme demanding anyone with a crown to tell you how every mechanic works, it's up to you to learn end game fights, and since these ARR/HW extremes are synced they are still the same difficulty as Stormblood end game fights.
I feel like you have a skewed view of what a mentor is supposed to be, I recommend looking back at the requirement to unlock mentor and change your expectations based on what it listed there, it's quite a leap to go from "have a few 60s and some dungeons done" to "must be able to teach difficult end game fights to people who are too lazy to do it themselves".
Generally, from my personal experience, Mentors who get dropped in EX trials do not give advice beyond "What are you doing here?! You should have watched a video! Don't queue for the content if you don't know it!." People do not care about helping or teaching whatsoever.
If I get a piece of content where everyone is doing their job well and we're progressing smoothly I see no point pokingmy nose in to "help" as they're doing just fine without me. However when you wipe to a trial 5 times in a row then, yes, you are expected to help.
You don't go into Seiryu EX in mentor roulette anyway so your point is a little moot. However I fail to see how it's a bad thing to ask how the mechanics work? Explaining a mechanic is not the same as holding someone's hand to make sure they execute it properly.
