Butt/thigh slider. Kthxbai
I do hope we at least get new faces, hairstyles and makeup options somewhere down the line as I really love the character customization in this game. I also would like to see some body type variations as we really don't have a fat WoL.
I don't remember exactly either, but I do recall them saying at that time that things like body-shape sliders (or more sliders in general) were difficult and/or didn't want people making weird proportions that somehow create strange new races in XIV. But the thing about the server's memory or what-not did come-up about something customization-related. I don't remember the jargon or which interview/Live letter to search for.
But they did ask for more feedback about what more we want to see for existing customization options, because I remember rolling my eyes at the notion that they've potentially never seen nor heard any of all the requests for more face options and accents like beards/stubble/eyebrows since like, ever... Though I think it's because they've gotten vague feedback under the general common request of "more customization options!" and might have had misconceptions of what was being asked for. So this thread could be good for that.
We have a boob/bust slider for women....but no butt/thigh slider....gotta love SE.
I'm not saying they can't add new options, but that it's unlikely the new races would have inherently more 'customisation points' than the older races. Possibly it will stay the same, or possibly all the races get some extra settings, but I doubt the new races will have more options-per-character than the older ones.
Some people are interpreting the statements about the new races having (vague quote from memory) unique customisation options as a tradeoff for not having visible helmets, as that somehow that will translate into giving them more categories of character settings.
If people are counting on that being the case, I think they may be setting themselves up for disappointment and a wave of angry "where are the additional customisation options we were promised?!?!" posts upon Shadowbringers' release - when we weren't promised anything at all, and people just read something into a statement that was never actually there.
more scars and facial blemishes pls
Only been waiting since forever to be able to have multiple face paint options. Still no good reason why I can't have makeup + freckles. I know they said it would create more character bloat and thus server issues.. always with server issues.. figure it out already.
Would definitely be good to see that. I'm not sure if they can do multiple beards per face with the current system, but some new face designs would be great. I think both of them have the problem that most of the faces need beards turned on or they don't look 'right'.
A younger-looking face for male Roegadyn and Highlander might draw more players into using them, and it would be good for NPC designs as well. Particularly since the few Highlanders that are supposed to be young, don't really look like it. (Arenvald is 19; Hildebrand - with a side of timetravel shenanigans - is physically 18... also I remain convinced that Wilred was supposed to be a Highlander character using a Midlander model, and they just couldn't make the character type they needed with the correct race.)
Would you like to see it clipping through your skirt or cape? Because I certainly wouldn't.
Personally I'm quite happy not having to make a decision about where to set that slider.
If they finish the job on 5.0 adding male Viera and female Ronso. I hope to see this new costume settings that they promise on other reces on 6.0. Don’t need to be on every race at the same time. They could go for the less popular first and it will be fine for me.
I'm not convinced that we'd be getting any actual new customisation settings for old characters, but something I would like to see added (that would fit within the existing framework) is some variations on existing hairstyles. Flipped versions of some popular ones, or different lengths. It would add more options for relatively little work.
