This is a skip potion - it skips the content and does not provide any of the material rewards from that content. No armour, no weapons, no gil and no potions. Thats why you get the token 300,000 gil in Allagan platinum pieces.
However I'd strongly advise everyone not to use the skip potion unless they are running on an alt character and do not want to go through the motions of the lower level content. Is it worth the money? Probably yes based upon how long it would take someone to get through that content without the skip potion. You miss out on a hell of a lot more though - a darn sight more that 300,000 gil worth of stuff for starters.
How long does it take someone to do the content? Not really that long - Mono Chrome was "born" on January 23 and I have not been 100% focused on the MSQ but the main job is now 69 and he is almost at the end of the original release Stormblood stuff. Had I used a skip potion and a level boost I'd be further ahead but it would not have been as much fun and I would not have experienced so much and understood the mechanics. -

It's not an oversight. The skip potion is to skip having to do the MSQ. It doesn't entitle you to all the rewards you get for doing the MSQ. The few items they do give you can only be obtained by completing the MSQ quests and have no other sources.
There is another source for Fantasia. Use it if you want one.
Considering you claim the skip potion was a gift from a friend, perhaps you should complain to your friend that they didn't also choose to gift you with Fantasia at the same time. -
