People who are mad about the "limited job" didn't actually want Blue Mage.

Here's how I'm going to tackle this. I'm willing to be patient. Let Blue Mage come out, let us have it for 4.5 and see what they change about it for 5.0. After 5.0 and if it's still much the same, then I would start asking SE to make some changes.

There's some simple fixes to the majority of problems here.

No matchmaking: Simply have a requirement for you to have any/all abilities that matter.
Overpowered abilities: Make it so these abilities only work on enemies 11 levels or more below your own level.
No PvP: Currently not a single job behaves as they do in PvE, so I don't see how this is such an issue.

This can play out rather simply. You can even make it so matchmaking can only be done if you have learned every single ability that isn't level gap restricted. It would be a bit hardcore and players would ask for more lenient settings, but the end goal could be there for any and all players, and once you got there then you could contribute uniquely to the team.

But I'm okay with things remaining as they are for 4.5, to see for myself how it will play out, and for SE to see how it will play out.

I'm okay with being a BLU beta tester, and while I will hope for bigger and better things, I fully intend to play it as it stands anyway. If, after immersing myself in it, I see things that I feel are glaringly wrong, I'll come back here and add my thoughts to the feedback thread du jour. Until then, I guess I'd rather have a little BLU than none at all.

I am not ignoring anything, but if you are willing to provide a source to you're first "quote" from Yoshi-P and the corresponding response I would welcome considering it. I have a difficult time remembering everything Yoshida has said for years ago and the community response is notoriously inconsistent.

I think the real question now is:

With BLU being limited, will Blue Mages Limit Break allow them to enter duty finder queues for the next 10 seconds?

My only complaint is that we have to wait until halfway through the new expansion to do endgame stuff as a BLU.

Q: I love the blue mage job that appears in the FINAL FANTASY series. Will the blue mage job ever be implemented in FFXIV?

A: I think that blue mage is an interesting job because you can learn spells from enemies, but honestly I don't think that it really fits MMORPG party settings. If anything, I think it would work solo and it would be really fun to implement it as a job where you go around and learn abilities from every monster, so I'd definitely like to try and do this, but I'm concerned when it comes to playing in a party players would put up barriers if you haven't learned certain abilities. Additionally, in the event you are able to use abilities forever once you learn them, the difficulty of learning abilities would be high, and we wouldn't be able to balance the system so it wouldn't revolve around procuring your abilities instead of equipment. This wouldn't be practical enough to fit in an MMORPG party setting and conversely if you are swapping in only certain abilities you've learned, the true image of a blue mage would diminish, so this is something that I am concerned with. Theres no guarantee we'll ever be sble to do current endgame stuff as blue mage.
Its specificslly design to not be used in cutrent raids.

That's not even guaranteed. They said that they'll advance it through patches, but have never said that they'll ever let it into at-the-time current endgame. There are a lot of folks right now talking about "when they balance everything" and "when they let it into DF/raid content" and they straight up said this was a limited job type, not beta test.

People who want it into endgame need to speak up. I don't know if it'll do anything, but right now just assuming that "this isn't what I want, so clearly they'll change it later" isn't going to help when it's their current intention to keep it as a side-content attraction.
