So now contest prizes can be bought?

As someone who has won 6 in game contests so far, I don't mind this at all.

I have Bluebird earring, ahriman choker, mandragora choker, scarf of wondrous wit and the noble barding on my main. I got a 2nd mandragora choker on my alt.

I'm using noble barding on my main's choco atm just because I won it, but the only other two prizes I really ever glam are the two chokers. I'd possibly use the scarf more if it was dyeable... but it isn't so...

At any rate, I'd much prefer the option to buy the old contest items on my alts vs winning more contests. Especially if that meant they were gonna flush out the old prizes to roll in some new options. Even if it's just a period of exclusivity.

Especially for larger contests where SE favors their JP playerbase anyways and there's always more JP entries picked for finalists than NA/EU.

Honestly, I don't see myself buying anything except maybe the torches....the earrings and scarf is kinda "meh".

Well, to be fair, it doesn't costs you a thing to enter the contests besides effort so technically, you're still getting something for free if you win or if you just outright pay the low gil fee for said scarf now. It's free either way, it's not costing you any additional fees.

I love the mental gymnastics at work here. This would be adorable if it wasn't so transparent.

Maybe if the community had banded together before, when other exclusives were being stripped, you wouldn't be in this position now? But that wasn't the case before, and won't be the case now. Your thread will be filled to the brim with people telling you to get over it, same as every thread before - White Ravens or otherwise.


I'm against this just as much as I was against giving away the White Ravens, or reusing the Zodiac Relic models, or whatever. Not gonna waste a lot of time rallying the cause though since 1) the community's going to do what I said, and 2) Square's not going to care (or respond, probably). They ain't gonna make it a replica, either. You've got even less time than the White Ravens crew had.

To accept that *NOTHING*, and I do mean *NOTHING* , in this game will ever retain any amount of value over time.

Do expect for the rest of the 1.0 items to be made available? Yes, the legacy mark, Chocobo and Goobbue.

Feast rewards? I expect to see them made available to everyone too.

Bluebird earring? Gaelicap? You guessed, given out to everyone.

Unsynced UwU? You betcha!!

For the record, I dislike this, but they have been marching down this path for a while now.

They have removed exclusivity on:
1.0 seasonal event rewards
1.0 achievement rewards
1.0 Seventh Umbral Storyline rewards
Original Fanfest rewards
Contest rewards

There is no reason to think that they will simply stop there.

But i never see them handing out Ultimate weapons nor unsync it, legacy status or tied items such as mounts. People need to understand the Raven Earrings was a "raid" reward while tattoo, chocobo and Goobbue mount was all legacy status items.

I am of the thought that everyone should be able to enjoy all things in the game at some point or another. Digital exclusivity doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me but I am from a different era of folks. This happened before and will continue to happen.

The mark of the twelve, was not from the legacy campaign. It was only from creating a character in 1.0. That’s it.
The Legacy Goobbue was from a quest, it was not part of the legacy campaign either.

Only the Chocobo and the reduced sub were from the campaign.

I should know, I have all of them. I also had the “raid” earrings too.

Isn’t UwU only a “raid”?

I do not see them giving out legacy sub or the merchandise items as those would directly cost SE money while the others can make them money.
