What do you think was the worst thing this game experienced from 2.0 until now?

I'll join the choir and say Eureka.

It highlights the absolute worst aspects of FFXIV, i.e., it's slow combat system. I have said this aplenty but mechanical variance is what makes FFXIV fun, not your basic trash mob grind. While Anemos was flawed, the playerbase at least made it work. Instead of building off the NM train, we're forced away from it. Eureka simply marks an enormous lack of creativity on the devs part. Yoshida has gone on record claiming they wanted to recreate the leveling experience of an expansion launch. Did they forget what comes with an expansion? Quests, dungeons, side stories and even FATEs. In fact, we don't even use open world trash mobs to level. Ultimately, Eureka is easily the biggest disappointment for me. So much potential, all squandered.

This works both ways though... what if there comes a point in the game that you dislike - which is very likely for all of us given how divisive things have been lately.

IMO, PLDs -x% design was a huge mistake, and ruined tanks, and possibilities of what future tanks can do.
Plus who makes a WAR a healing tank, and PLDs a non healing tank?!
Who makes WAR the higher dps tank, AND make it the support tank? (slashing debuff, and eventually -10% dmg dealt debuff)

PLD should have been support, with heals, and WAR the selfish dps tank, though pure defense. (PLD should have had a lower GCD mechanic like MNK/NIN/SAM, and DRK more about weaving attacks in. Leaving WAR with the longer GCD, to feel like its the great axes weight.)

If PLDs rampart was more liek foresight, adding defense, rather than lowering damage done by the boss, this would have opened up so much more possibilities in tanking ideas, w/o having to copy/paste rampart effects. (Of course 20% on foresight was terrible, should have been nearly 50% increase)

As for what the OP asked, the fact Flash was 3.5s GCD trigger at beta, and when all WSs were lowered to 2.5s, all spells had a 3s GCD.
They should have made them 2.5s from the start,rather than waiting till a patch to change them to 2.5s.
Flash on PLD was awful, since you were slowly doing less GCDs than the DPS, and they would still rip hate off you. So everyones best plan was to rotate Rage of Halone, which still wasnt good enough against the best BLMs. (Though for most pug BLMs it was fine)

There's a handful of things about the game that I dislike. I offer constructive feedback where appropriate and if the game ever reaches a point where it lacks many redeeming qualities for me then I will take my leave. Far too many people fool themselves into thinking that they have an obligation to stick around due to the time/money investment that comes with MMO's. I saw it frequently back in WoW. I still have friends who play it four years after I turned my back on it. They have nothing but complaints about the game yet refuse to move on. When WoW stopped appealing to me, meanwhile, I simply took my leave. There's so many other things people could be doing with their lives instead of clinging to something that they no longer enjoy but feel a misguided obligation to commit to.

For me it was just not knowing what was valuable and what wasn't, I suppose. I've been playing a little over a year now, I'm a WoW veteran and been playing too many years to count, so I did hit the ground running. But still, I constantly ran at full storage capacity with 2 retainers (I won't spend cash on more - misguided principle, perhaps.)

I just held on to everything as I didn't know what would be useful down the line. I have leveled all jobs and crafters ( and Desynth... yes, I'm a sucker for an experience bar) now and have a much better handle on what I need etc - but there's still a cynical part of me that thinks they have overloaded the game with items to nudge players into the paid storage options. The HQ versions add to this line of thinking... but that is just my old man paranoia and I don't want to encourage others to follow me in this >.<

For me it's just the point that we shouldn't have to pay for anything in game - I begrudgingly concede that glamour stuff is going to happen, and they do do a very good job of it and it makes people happy so I can roll with that. But there's an old-school part of me that it still doesn't sit well with.

You can not like a few things and enjoy the game overall. There are some on here that either don't enjoy the game or just want attention. They threaten to quit, say they dropped subscription, attack people for liking content, attack people for discussing or explaining how to do content, or say they don't like the game or large aspects of the game. It could be different things with different people. It's being dramatic. Even if there were monumental issues with the game/company, that would never help anyway.

Paying a sub for 4 years and wanting many different in game stuff and seeing mogstation additions. 180$ a year for what in game content cuts, mogstation additions, too many people worried about glamour and see caters to that demographic only every patch over actual "new innovative & never seen before in a mmo" content. Hey i wonder how long till se adds lootboxes with glamour, emotes and jump potions, rare crafting equipment in it.

With a constantly evolving game with an ever shifting direction, their attitude is normal, and we shouldn't be treating it like an act for attention. If the game shifts from a direction you like to a direction you don't like then you obviously complain and ask for the direction to be put back on course. Its less about adding something you don't like but either not adding anything you like (because the amount of stuff they have been adding has been getting smaller) or them changing something you did like (like raiding, or ultimate, or relic, or crafting/gathering). As for people threatening to quit the game, I'll refer you to the quote that always comes up from the other side "Stop complaining, vote with your wallet", isn't that what they are doing?

I think that's a very good and pragmatic way to approach things - and I do agree.
But I think that what is lost in translation over the forums sometimes is a genuine passion for something people enjoy, but can't quite articulate.
Feedback should be encouraged, even if it sometimes gets lost in a few badly written forum rants.
