Not really. I want to be able to choose whether to move or not. Yet I am forced to move servers and am also forced to lose any friends that are currently on a break.

That's what most people dislike about the merge imho. Not the fact we have to make a decision. If you look at the worlds forums and not the general trolling section, then you'll see that most servers have already decided where to go in case we won't get plan2.

I can see Yoshi-P's perspective some.

Let the unsubbed players would get another shot at server transfers in 2.0.

And announcing something a month ahead with chances to transfer multiple times during that period. If someone is going to come back, they'll come back now or just wait for 2.0.

I don't think that people were blaming Yoshi... well I can think of one person but that's a different story.
I think people were against the decision not against the decision maker/s ^_^ - or rather were for the merge, just not the manner in which it was happening.

We need the merge, I think we can mostly agree on that. I liked seeing people be passionate... it means they love the game and if the love the game, all good things like prosperity and longevity will come.

The community, begged, pleaded, then demanded and commanded, for server mergers. Now that they are getting it, they are crying like a bunch of witchy little girls.

No, he is probably going through the names of all the those who demanded server mergers, and cross referencing it with the whine bags who are crying about it like shool girls with a skent knee. In an effort to see that there characters are casualties of a "server glitch" that deletes there character during the merger process.

You can't compare food to game design. You wouldn't want movies to be made by the audience either, would you? Of course game are a little different from movies as well, but for the most part the same principle applies. That being said, he should definitely listen to the community - and he obviously does. For some aspects, player feedback is extremely valuable, since even the best game designers don't always know what would make the players happy. But more often than not, people ask for stuff that would ultimately damage the game, because they don't understand the implications.

The main idea was to give EU players a chance to get together with players from the same time zone. If they just go with plan ② (A + B - X ⇒A), the server with X would probably end up being underpopulated, because it's not likely that many players switch if they don't have to. So there was a good reason for it, but apparently most people don't care.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: When you smack two servers together, you get two distinct communities trying to coexist (sometimes quite unsuccessfully). With option 4 you're creating entirely new, cohesive communities.

Blanket merges have sucked in every game they've been done in. They are an absolute last resort because of the negative connotations associated with them. If said connotations didn't exist, game studios would perform them more regularly. Option 4 is also a last resort, but something like it hasn't really been done before. With that in mind, I wonder what your basis of comparison is? You don't have one. You're just assuming doom and gloom. Which is all the more reason why you're not qualified to make judgments on game design.

yea made awesome idea's for this game and has really fixed it up... the man is a fucking god!!!! but i do and first and hopefully last tine disagree with the server merge idea he had.

What do you mean? He's probably going to with option 2 like all the QQers wanted. As long as I'm not on a dead server, it's not the end of the world IMO.

i mean i didnt agree with his first idea for sever merge but apart from that the guys is awesome and i do feel bad from his cause of all the people that bitch about everything no matter what he does.

Truth to be told, you know EXACTLY what you want, yes. But since you're not a developer yourself you're most probably pathologically unable to EXPRESS that. There's simply things that are beyond your grasp, and beyond mine, when dealing with things you're not fully knowledgeable of. That's where filtering and analyzing player feedback fits, it's trying to figure out exactly what the players want, taking it from what they're saying.

Like, a person saying "I want to level faster" might actually mean "I don't want to feel frustrated for not having any actual progress done during the little free time I have" and a person saying "I want to level slower" might truly mean "I want the game to last longer since I like it".

Not saying you're wrong, but you're not fully correct either... Aaaaalso just a minor nitpick? I don't htink i'm being on-topic here
