You have no idea how they would've handled old seasonal stuff if there was no cash shop, only one seasonal event ran for its second year before the cash shop was on its way in and said seasonal event had items from the previous year.

If anything we actually lost something, all seasonal furniture used to be tradeable the following patch after the event, but they decided to keep all items market prohibited so the marketboard wouldn't compete with the cash shop.

Ok, so there's the potential that for the seasonal events they would have gone down that route, that I am willing to concede. Though the 2 big examples I can think of... WoW that doesn't really offer new items for seasonals (or at least didn't back in WOTLK/Cata/MoP) but brings the same ones back for every event, and RuneScape that doesn't bring them back at all. Given we get new items every run, I expect we'd have been given the RuneScape treatment.

But these cash shop exclusive items, I highly HIGHLY doubt we'd have got those any other way. Especially the ones like the Chinese/Korean ones where they had to pay and it was supposed to be exclusive to their region. Plus, the whales are gonna make sure this never stops happening anyway, so it's something I shouldn't have brought up anyway as it's pointless. But rather than delete my posts, on this occasion I'm going to own this mistake.

FFXI, the company's own previous game, had new items every year. And they always provided the old items available in-game. I don't know how they're handling it now, but that's how it was for the 10 years I played.

I'll admit, I never played XI (XIV is the ONLY Final Fantasy game I've ever played), so hearing how they did things is interesting. Perhaps they would have done it then.

Though I will say my Chinese/Korean mogshop item stance is unchanged.

same as the event item, meal furnishing that disappears after ten uses.

I think a happy medium would be to let at least the housing items/consumables be available at the event each year, but have them available on the mogstation all year round. Those that miss the event and don't want to wait out its return can still buy it. WoW brings back all the event items, but doesn't put them on the cash shop at all.

Pretty sure they can be crafted. No way there worth 5 dollars. Maybe 99 of them for that price maybe.

If its a permanent 'magical consumable' (where it will restore itself daily or weekly), ok I can get teh $5 price. But if its a limited use item for a snowcone? Yeah, that seems a bit silly. Not gonna put money into something like that.
