Why does Yoshida hate linkshells/communities?

It's not nonsense, I hope that Vicious is picking a low pop server, because you know you might not even end up making the cut before it closes off due to high population (and good luck trying to convince your close friends to all transfer again during 2nd phase).

It is a problem that will affect a lot of people, and they could really easily fix it just by doing a normal merger first. I think linkshells/communities are probably the most important thing in an MMO, and server merges should take them into account. In 99% of all MMO server mergers I have seen in the past they were, why does Square Enix have to continue to innovate new as yet unheard of ways to disappoint their customers.

Chill out. I'm on your side. I just said that this flame war showed me a point for the opposition and I was able to accept it. I then said that those benefits still didn't outweigh the losses in my mind. So I'm still on your side.

It will not give them equal opportunities fiscally or in character level, but when we form tight groups of friends and tight linkshells, there is difficulty in being the new guy. Even after you're invited to a shell, often you sit there for a few days, then say something here and there, and if you get positive feedback, you'll start talking more; if you don't, you'll just be less prone to talk and feel like you don't fit in. Psychology+comm theory. They'll never be able to fit in like those of us that have been playing together for months or more. If you want to see that post, click my name and look for threads I've started. It's called "Server Merge" or something like that. It will give them a chance to join a community that is not established, giving them just as much confidence and acceptance as anyone.

Unfortunately, I don't think the current server merge will entirely address that issue either. Hence why it didn't change my mind. And moreso, this issue will just happen again for every single new player. It's not a good enough reason for me.

When the game is worth playing, World Transfers will be available. If you have dozens and dozens of friends you couldn't dare playing FFXIV without until World Transfers arrive, add them to your facebook, skype, msn, hotmail, phone book, and/or cellphone. You could even write their mailing address down on a piece of paper and mail them a note w/ recent server merge information. You could even fly/drive/walk to their front door AND TELL THEM TO REACTIVATE FOR A MONTH AND PICK THE SAME WORLD SERVER THAT YOU AND YOUR LINKSHELL IS.

Or accuse Yoshida of hating Linkshells/Communities.

Right because when it comes to doing that, or simply merging servers and then allowing transfers for people like you who want them, that is so much easier.

I guess my only response to that is that I don't enforce my will on people who are my friends, but that doesn't make them less important to me. I'd still like to play with them, and if we had a merger I'd get to do that. You'd also still get to transfer away from all the people on your servers who I'm sure can't stand you at this point.
