Flames for all Bonewicca Sets

They gave one set something extra because it's for the class the contest was run for. I don't understand why that's so difficult to understand? The contest was.. for... caster... gear. So obviously the caster gear is going to be more "special"/"fun"/"interesting"/whatever than the other classes' gear.

The reason to not add effects to the other gear is not laziness, it's because (again) the contest was for caster gear - so caster gear is going to get a little something more.

What you're asking for is basically "all class gear contest." That's not what this was. This was "Caster Gear Contest" and I think adding in elements to that winning design for the other classes was the LEAST lazy thing they did. Lazy would have been dumping in generic-looking gear for the other classes and only including the contest style for the caster.

Right now, you're complaining because the only thing the other gear lacks are glowy horns. It 100% sounds entitled to me.

Yea, the contest does matter. It doesn't matter how many times you try to refute it, it does matter. Where was all of this faux outrage over the tank contest gear? The healer contest gear? Are we going to run into these entitlement issues with the melee and ranged contest gear too? They HAVE to create sets referenced on the ORIGINAL DESIGN of the caster gear so the other jobs don't feel completely left out. But, what they don't have to do is make them all the same. That's not what the gear contests are about at all. They're about shining the spotlight on the specific jobs for the gear, not make everyone look and feel the same. Again, where were these complaints over the Lost Allagan Tank gear and why healers didn't have this or casters didn't have that. You can't speak for the other players, you're not their voice, and no one likes it when people make generalized assumptions about how they should feel.

If players didn't care about the contest, then they wouldn't bother to enter and the developers wouldn't bother to hosts the content. So, that point of your's is moot. Furthermore, you're making bold assumptions that future players would even care that the caster set looks different over the others and that they would feel so entitled to whine and nitpick over it as you and the TC are doing now. Stop using the "new/future players" as a reasoning because you're making generalized assumptions that don't hold any water since you can't speak for everyone from all three different regions. Neither can I in that regard, however, I also don't whine because one job has something different that I want. I just go level the job and be done with it.

It's people that feel like they're entitled towards having everything without putting any effort forth is what ruins it for everyone else usually. If you want special effects on your other jobs, draw some entries and hope they win, but don't sit there and complain when you don't get what you want for your job. You should be happy you got anything at all from SE and they could have just implemented the specific job gear only. For example, tank contest (only tanks get new gear), healer contest (healers get new gear), etc.

I'm not being selfish, I'm giving you the perspective of anyone who doesn't care or never heard of these contests.

I only heard about this caster contest after people started complaining and I never heard of the tank or healer one.

Simple. They weren't designed to. They didn't design their gear to have special effects.

So your saying that as much effort went into each of the other job sets in the healer and tank contest, but hey, it's not lazy to do the same for the caster contest because... reasons?

That is lazy design. The majority of players will have never heard of these contests. They will not understand why one job looks great and has effects while the rest don't.

If the previous contests had a consistent design, why is it fine to stop designing the other jobs in this contest when it comes to effects like flames. Why would a sudden drop in quality in any job sets from a dungeon be acceptable.

My lord, you are REALLY trying to stretch this out to fit your motives, aren't you?
They got the same work as the other classes because the winners didn't have any special effects for their designs. Had they decided to have sparkles on their healers and tanks, guess what? The DPS wouldn't have had those same sparkles as the healers and tanks. The caster contest winner tried something new and they were successful with it. They were the only ones to try to add an effect to their gear and SE found a way to make it work.

It's not lazy. Go level up a caster if you want glowing horns. Want something shiny for your main DPS class type? Join the next contest and hope you win.

My argument is about keeping the design across jobs consistent, not about supporting the mentality that some jobs deserve more than others.

And I feel this way because inconsistency makes a game look amateurish to casual gamers.

Okay, I must have missed something, but can anyone explain to me why not adding glowy horns (or particel effects) to the other gear is "lazy design"?

I dont know terrible much about how the actual modeling of gear works but it would be my understanding that
(1) once you've created the particle effect, you can kinda copy-paste it and
(2) that creating such particle effects might take longer than your average hat, but again, once you've created them for one hat you can just re-use those assets, maybe modify them slightly, but wont have to start from scratch.

Maybe those assumptions are terribly wrong - if so, please enlighten me! But for the moment I cant see them being "lazy" just because they didnt add particle effects to all gear.
"lazy" would have been to just give all jobs the same mask - instead they created 4 more designs in that general style that are fitting their respective jobs. Why is not adding flames to those designs "lazy"? To me it looks like a design-choice along the lines off "We want to make casters shine, honour the person who designed the original gear (by not overshadowering it and making it stick out) and also flames make sense for casters, but not so much for monks"

I dont see how "equal treatment" has to mean "every job gets the same thing" - to me it rather means "every job gets gear that fits their general aesthetic". Glowing, magic flames fit the aesthetic of casters to me - they dont really match that well with a job like a ninja (who'd rather not have a glowing horn on his head).
