Has anybody actually made friends through FFXIV?

When I was single, I actually had many friends in RL and was very much a social butterfly. Then I got married, had a child, and moved out of the city to the country, so THAT aspect of my life has slowed down quite a bit, though I still host parties and gaming meetups from time to time.

Then I discovered this game and have made a few very nice online friends though it. I also made even more through my lodestone blog entries. I will never meet them in RL, but they make the game a LOT more fun to play.

I've not made any but I'm not looking to either. I had more interaction when I played WoW but that was due to having a family and friends guild. Here I'm satisfied with DF/PF and if the group is chatty fine and if it isn't that's ok as well.

Not in 14 specifically, but I made a friend in another game that helped me get started here. Still friends too.

I have a hard time clicking with people, but even so.. I’ve gotten some really great friends from ff14. Met two of my best friends from mmos, and mmos made me even closer with my irl best friend :3

Met some great friends through XIV that still stay in touch outside of the game. Some of them aren't even playing XIV anymore and we remained friends

Only 1 online friend. I have known them since they started because they used one of my recruit a friend codes. I know I will never him IRL, but I am good with just being an online friend. They have been a good friend even we don't run things together. It's just nice to have someone else to talk about this game with, other than when he takes haituses.

I have not made any friend that would become a RL lasting friend sadly in the almost 3 years I have played. I can't even get other people (other than my sister) I know IRL to even play anyway.

I've made an acquaintance, but other than that... every actual friend I play with is someone I've invited to FFXIV, hahaha.

similar experience here, though through RO, my friendship with a handful of people (who were also org-mates in school) became stronger. met them in 2003 when I joined the org, still friends with them today, sometimes I get to play online with them too. around 2010 I joined a guild in RO where I took guild vs guild very seriously, like I set my schedule around the war of emperium. some of our members were good enough to compete internationally, but due to p2w shenanigans our server's economy crashed and I quit to play LotRO with the same school friends. still, I consider some of my guildmates friends, from time to time our guild master would invite us to play a new MMO, but they're not in my inner circle as my school friends.
here in FFXIV, I'd like to think everyone in our FC are my friends but that would be too presumptuous xD I haven't met any of them in person because they're on the other side of the world, but for nearly 4 years I've been in constant communication with some of them through social media, discord, and of course the game itself. I love these people, just for the time alone that I've spent with them, no matter how silly has been meaningful, and I pretty much stick around in Eorzea for the FC.

Not really. I've been social with people for lengthy periods of time, but given this is an MMO people unsub and I lose touch. The longest I maintained a social group in an MMO would have been in WoW during BC, which was for about 2 years.
