Where did the Lalafell hate originate?

I don't know if it has anything to do with hate, but I certainly don't like the whole "lalafell master race" meme that's been going on. It sometimes makes me ashamed to be a lalafell. Be who you want to be, and let others be who they want to be.

That's just meant to be a joke. I can see where you're coming from but I can't see anyone getting influenced by that and if they do, then they're taking it too seriously.

Just a running joke/stereotype from FFXI days. Back then it was Taru. Now Lala. Same thing different names.

Elezens/Elvaans are giraffes (long neck), Miqotes/Mithra are men as catgirls, Roe/Galka are taru/lala eaters...etc
Taru/Lala are well small and bite sized. Drop rates were so dismal back in FFXI that people eventually just started talking about using Tarus as drop sacrifices. Add that to positive bias when a rare drop DOES appear after the NM ate the local taru/lala, it just kinda stuck. When something doesn't appear for a long time, people will just say "taru sacrifice!".

Just as loldrgs, spoony bards...etc etc

Thank you. No, I had it commissioned because I don't like how...droll I look when I take in-game screenshots. The art came out better than I imagined and I even commissioned another art piece from the same artist.

I didn't even know there was popoto people hate. Most of the stuff I see is about how cute they are and /petting them.

Mind you I'm on a JP data center so it could be a completely different vibe for me.

For me lala's tend to be so child like in how they look in-game it tends to bend one's mind. Course this is coming from a dragon looking lady with horns and scales with a tail. HAHAHA

They aren't SJWs but discussing that seems to be missing the mark. I'm just trying to answer the question of why there is perceived hate towards this particular race beyond any normal dislike for a specific race someone might have. It is an out of game element that might be effecting attitudes in game

I personally don't mind them as a race. I don't find them cute so much as amusing. Except Krile. She requires hugs at all times. The only race I tend to dislike is the Au Ra. Just not a fan of their look.

I think the amount of lala hatred varies from server to server, datacenter to datacenter. When I played on EU servers, it was more tame, being along the lines of the elezen giraffe jokes in that they were just that: jokes.

NA servers have a much greater variety. Smaller servers are usually on par with EU servers, but on a bigger server like Balmung, I've seen the full array from racial jabs to full-blown hate speech to even getting kicked from various groups just for playing a lala and hearing worse tales like people getting kicked from statics because they decided to fantasia to one for a bit and even stories of public harassment, which is the main reason why I have no problem at all making fun of that server.

A bizarre observation I've had having been on nearly a dozen servers now is that the degree of anti-lala sentiment on any server seems to be somehow linked to the population of players playing female miqo'te, where the more there are, the worse it is for lala players.

No offense to the potatoes currently populating this thread but in MY personal experience since 2.0 most (good 96%) of the lalafels I've run into were more or less jerks for the sake of being jerks or generally so full of themselves you could see their ego from outer space. So yeah that kinda fostered a bit of a....distaste toward potatoes. I love French fries though!!!
