This. While the hair and cloth looks really nice, I'm worried about the durability over shipping and time.

I don't think it's gonna be a problem. I didn't saw the box for Odin but this is PVC (right?) it should not break so easily. If they learned anything from other figures companies they need to use more flexible material on hair to avoid problems. Maybe that material they like to use in Play arts Kai figures when it comes to the character hair. It's a shame that I didn't get to see Odin figure with my own eyes. It would be easier for me to make decision about preordering Shiva.
SE why not sell the statue with the emote and put the emote in the cash shop? I mean its limited anyway so you will probably find enough people that just buy the statue for the statue..so win win for everyone right? Those that cant afford it or are too late when its sold out will still get the chance for the emote if they want the statue for that and you will get more money buy selling that on the mog station too..
$150 US dollars -_- I can't believe it. And its plastic. I'm sad to say I might have pushed for $100 if I was feeling like treating myself, but knowing that its 150 and shipping and taxes will most likely bring it close to 200....no thanks -_-
I'd buy it but...
1) The price is not worth it
2) I don't live in the States or EU, so shipping would kill me even more.
3) They should sell the emotes separately because a lot of people would pay for it but don't care about the statue or it's too expensive for them.
For that price+shipping, I may as well upgrade the remaining components of my PC and get ready for the PC release of FFXV next year.
Odin was pvc with some metal. I've been told there was a poorly concealed metal support on Odin that wasn't visible in the promo pictures.
Shiva will have some snapping issues unless they make big changes in the mass produced product because transluscent/clear parts on figures always tend to be brittle compared to opaque because there are a lot more limitations on what can be used if you want the part to retain its color/transparency over time. You either choose a softer material that's flexible that will yellow and crack with age or a rigid material that ups the chances for breaking but isn't as susceptible to longterm chemical changes. I'm speaking as a sculptor who has worked with these mediums. Thems the stakes when you work with plastic.
^ This. From experience soft plastic with flexible shapes usually doesn't come with good durability against natural aging. And that is even before factoring potential breaking from rough handling. From the Odin statue package I think rough handling shouldn't be that much an issue unless it arrive with serve damage that is plain to the eyes, but I'm still skeptical of bending/discoloring from aging. For Odin's case at least discoloring is a lesser concern due to the dark colors, but I can imagine the Shiva statue's color fading given a few years down.
Well, I went ahead and pre-ordered it as a Christmas present for myself. We'll see the longevity with it over time although 99% of my statues have maintained themselves well over the course as I just put them away in display cases with soft lighting. Although, I have 0% interest in the actual emote, however, it will be funny watching people try to sell the code for absurdly high prices.
