Subterranean cities
Honestly I was really disappointed when Shisui turned out to be just an incosequentional optional dungeon, especially since they made such a big deal out of it in the intro for SB, so I'm really hoping we get some actual underwater cities in the future
I like the idea of an urbanized combat zone. Probably best saved for when we finally make it to Garlemald
I want to go wherever the Allagans went.
To me its not a case of what kind of locations, but rather their aesthetic. Dense forest could mean gridania, or it could mean the sylphlands (which is much more aesthetically pleasing IMO), when people ask for snow, they could mean Coerthas, or they could mean a crystal-ridden arctic paradise.
Personally I want the devs to try something new, my favourite zone in the game is the churning mists because it is so aesthetically unique and diverse, we got nothing close to that quality in stormblood, and it is a shame, from the awe-inspiring Zenith, to the completely different but equally as interesting Aery, the zone oozed originality and creativity.
Also, this is an unpopular opinion, but I would like more small zones without flying, the big zones feel empty and meaningless and are just extended rock formations to the next landmark (which you dont even look at because you are flying).
That is pretty much what the west shroud is, and I want it.
Hanging Barbs housing area.
Expanded dimwold area, when I saw the promo pictures I was like WHOA channelwood from myst! and it ended up being like a 90% tiny irrelevant splotch on a map.
I also think a more claustrophobic forest would be neat for the shroud since "the forest is so thick" yet all our shroud areas feel pretty open.
A floating city area would be neat too, not like the rather desolate sea of clouds but something more like laputa from castle in the sky. Actually just a castle in the sky area would be cool, that movie had a lot of neat areas.
More than the style of the environment. I want unique gameplay due to the zone you traverse.
Examples:
Dead Swamps:
- Undead Blood aggro when hit points get below X threshold
- Certain areas of the swamp have dangerous creatures that attack if you move too fast in key sections
- Slowed movement in certain parts of the swamp.
Dense Jungle:
- Untargetable insects inhabit parts of jungle, they inflict a dot bleed which can be deadly if you are under attack from something else.
- Give me some Tarzan jungle vines to reach areas out of reach
- A jungle beast tribe of humanoidish beings that are cannibals, they worship a colossal being that roams the jungle, be careful.
Dark Catacombs/Sewers:
- A play on light, beware of things that lurk in the dark, must break holes in sections and use water and mirrors to make it safer.
- Spirits looking to inhabit the living, think Ano Londo vibe.
- Maybe even have certain light weapons, normal weapons do horrible damage in these catacombs.
We poked into the void for one of those 24 man raids. Can we also poke into or travel to the world consumed by light that the warrior of darkness came from?
What about an area where we get shrunken down the size of little tiny people and then everything becomes GIANT, soon, the normal beetles and little critters at the beginning of the game become so much more stronger "good way to reuse some of the old enemies". We could also make it into a big map since everything would be so big to us, but in reality it is not very big at all. We could have to climb on things to get to the top of other things etc etc somewhat sort of like KH. Heck maybe this is a way they could introduce Cloud's bike? They said its already in game, it could be a toy and we could use it.
