I'm just not getting the Samurai hype, what am I missing?

After playing so much ninja I just do the positionals automatically. I was glad when I realized Samurai was a lot less punishing in the positional department, and that even if I was forced to move constantly out of melee range (like Susano) where my combo timer was going to wear off anyways Enpi spam was nice for building up Kenki when busy dodging aoes.

Well, for the general populace in general content, netflix tends to have the highest priority, with discord and tumblr being a close second. Mechanics are usually somewhere in the fourth of fifth spot and rotation a distant 10th at most.

Im sitting on a 62 SAM who I find okay to play, 60 NIN who I generally enjoy and a 31 MNK which I find pretty fun so far.

What should I do here. If I level SAM first im kind of banking on them becoming more fun with Hagakare, which might be true.

Depends on which type of player are you...If you like fast-hitting type, then NIN is for you. Although MNK also hit fast, after getting Riddle of Fire skill, you attack slow like a goon.

Play what you have fun playing... everything will take care of itself...

It's OK to not like the same thing as everyone else. You tried out the job and didn't like it. It happens.

Samurai was DoA without a Gil Toss ability with damage that scaled with your wealth by taking a fixed percentage of your gil.

Personally Samurai was a nice deviation from constantly worrying about Greased Lightning stacks, however after getting to 70 the job does still feel a bit shallow. I still enjoy playing it but for the most part it's easy to get into a rut with the job because of how straight forward it is while leveling.

I was the same OP even before SB i could not understand the hype and would have preferred Dancer.
Have Sam at 70 and still would have preferred Dancer, lol

See, unlike the OP, I actually like the slow, methodical feel that Samurai offers.

The biggest thing with Samurai is just knowing when to use your Kenki to empower your attacks at the right moment. I also find myself rarely using the 25 Kenki attack oGCD, and prefer dumping it into the last attack of my first two chain attacks instead. I'm wondering what the output in DPS is, difference wise, between both attacks. I've read that above 45 Kenki, you should be using the attack, but I just don't feel the power behind that attack. Feels like it's a wet noodle hitting the mob. I get more oomph using it on those last two skills.

Also, whoever says that positional is not required by Samurai, is losing out on a LOT of Kenki in the rotation. Every rotation of attacks, you're effectively losing out 10 kenki Which in the spam of 24 seconds, and in a 10 minute fight like EX or boss fights, is around 25 cycles at max optimum output (Bar the times you have downtime due to characters, so let's go to 20) which equals to 200 Kenki, which is either 10 extra empowerments of your attack, or 8 of your oGCD attacks. (Still really new with SAM so the terms haven't stuck with me. Also, anything beyond normal names is beyond me to remember. You should see how often I fail at Aft and Fore and Starboard and whatever it is...)

So to say it doesn't impact you in the long term is not looking at the numbers and realizing that you can really do more damage than you are doing right now. And doing lesser content isn't an excuse that I accept for not doing it.

5 missed positionals are 300 potency on SAM. 5 missed positionals are 200 potency on MNK. By this logic, MNK shouldn't do positionals too.
