Chocobo Companion levelling speed: Is it fine as it is?

The damage difference between companion using all skills and owner using all skills at lv 70 is much bigger than at level 50. At level 80 there will be no noticeable difference anymore between having the companion out or not.
The Chocobo need new skills and buff traits.
And the AI for the AoE heal need a fix.

I'm all for a chocobo buffs- but please no levels I just finished my first to 20...I don't want to have to grow more onions than I need for my alts chocobo that is currently 13.

I don't really use my chocobo outside of leveling stuff, he's rank 7 and I've been playing since ARR. I think they level stupidly slow for their purpose, as most people aren't constantly using them outside of leveling and fate farming. Now mind you I don't really care about my chocobo's level or I'd use the stables more, but I think they deserve a exp buff from combat, as rank 7 over ARR and two expansions of leveling through MSQ is kind of pathetic.

Just do your challenge log every week. Take a level 50-60 job to Urth's Fount in South Shroud and kill 100 water sprites. Takes like 15 minutes.

A lot of people do use chocobos for A/S hunts because it's extra damage (about 1000 dps per chocobo) and it's free healing that can save your life if you don't have a healer in the group.

Anything past level 10 is over leveling, I think it s fine as it is. The chocobo scales with yor level in any case, healing and hitting as hard as its skills allow based on that scaling. All over leveling does is give you the ability to do more skills on the companion.

They scale with the players level. Their rank only affects the skill points and there which skills they can use. If you watch closely when in a fate, the chocobo continues to use all their skills, but their output scales to your sync' level.

I know that and they scale really well past level 50. They can solo StormBlood mobs on their own. A level 70 chocobo also cures more than Eos.

Choco leveling is pretty fast as long as you feed it it's favorite food, use ut when solo, and do the weekly challenges. Helps a lot on hunts and gets a decent amount as well. I wish they would raise the cap though. I want to see choco meteor :P

I've been playing since 1.0 beta and my Chocobo is level 13 atm. Before it was a matter of not being able to use it when using Duty, which was a big hindrance.
Now that's past and gone and I'm really happy about it, but despite all the small tweaks we received (stables, exp food, challenge log) I feel Challenge Log is really the only one that makes a noticeable difference. The rest is nice to have, but it doesn't feel like it's making a huge difference to me.

Letting the bird get a small % of your non-kill XP would be so nice! If not from quests, at least from Fates, Hunts, Books etc?

It's fine if you use it actively. I see many leveling players in the open world doing fates, leves and other stuff without their chocobo active in battle. If you don't use it, well it will not level up xD.

If you always keep your chocobo active when you're doing something in the open-world, as well as completing the weekly challenge log, your chocobo rank will level up naturally.

And if you don't do much open world activities, then you don't really need a fully leveled chocobo in the first place.
