Yay it only took dozens of threads about this to finally get some attention. :/

Ideally, actions that require an evade, block, miss, parry to occur would stay grey'd out until the requisite action occurs, and then light up (assuming you also have sufficient TP or MP). A small counter showing the window to execute could be cool too, or like a rotating pie light that gets smaller as you run our of time to use it. Anything like this would easily let you know that an action is eligible and how much time you have before it becomes ineligible. This shouldn't really need to be optional.
It does a move, but there are fights where you need to focus in lots of stuff and maybe for animation locks too cant see the evade miss, block animation, as i get it they'll only light up the skills that are triggered when you miss, evade, block or parry an attack, so in my oppinion shouldnt be optional, we should had that since the beggining.
some people think working through the games annoyances = skill. Its just a bad game mechanic. The skill come to play when you notice that the skill is ready to use and you have to decide if that's what you want to do at that point in time.
blocks already show up in chat log and it doesn't take skill to read them so why not have the chat log cue transferred to the action bar. If i set my chat log to view blocks only it wouldn't mean i was more skilled because i knew when i was blocking easier. As far as viewing animations as cues when you cant see anything on the screen because you are surrounded by 90 foot tall trees or magic burst should we just deal with it. No. bad game mechanic is bad game mechanic.
fwiw, I say keep combos that purple/pink color and make reactive abilities a bright blue. Also, yeah greyed out until BOTH requirements are met. Now THATS a sexy action bar.
I wanted to give you all an update on the request to make the abilities that you use in reaction to attacks (like the block/parry/evade ones) display clearer on the action bar. While it won’t make it in time for 1.21, we’ll try and implement them in the time between 1.21 and 1.22.
Glad to hear that, although it is possible just by watching animations, sometimes in the heat of battle it's not the first thing on your mind. A little "Hey, press me!" feature for the buttons would be welcome.
Awesome news, Bayo.
