14 Chapters Later Which Final Fantasy did you prefer?

Have played some of: FFII, FFIII, FFIV, FFIX, FFXI (3 months in 2008 or so, level 40 PLD or something), FFXIV (Loony Bob, Lindblum)
Have played over 50% of: FFI (currently playing), FFVI
Have beaten: FFV, FFVII, FFVIII, FFX, FFXII, FFXIII
Spinoffs: Seen Advent Children, seen The Spirits Within, finished VII: Crisis Core, played some of Tactics Advance (50%? Not sure!).
Own: FFI, FFII, FFVII, FFVII:CC, FFVII:DoC, FFVII:AC, FFVIII, FFIX, FFX, FFXI, FFXII, FFXIII, FFXIV, FF:TSW.

Favourite overall game so far? Still FFVII for the all-round package of backstory, characters, story and the fact that the story actually changes depending on what you do, Shinra/Turks/SOLDIER, sidequests/minigames, materia/lifestream ideas, Sephiroth, etc. etc. It also wins on outright best story, outright best villians, outright best backstory.
Favourite job system? FFV. Special mention to FFXI.
Favourite sidequests/minigames? Three way tie between VII (Chocobos/Yuffie/etc), VIII (Triple Triad etc) and X (many minigames!).
Favourite group of playable characters? FFXIII. The depth given to these characters outdid the rest as far as I'm concerned. I adore the lore, too, as it offers so much potential. I look forward to finding out about more of the FNC universe.

Have I played/watched an FF I didn't enjoy? Not yet, although TSW was probably the biggest disappointment as it wasn't nearly as good as I'd hoped. Still watchable, though. Oh, and Yuna and Tidus were easily the most annoying characters I've ever had the displeasure of playing. If the FFX gameplay wasn't so good, I'd have put this down as a game I didn't enjoy.

most favorite was FFVII.

besides that my favorite FF games were IV,VIII, X & XIII

FF7 and Tactics hold numero uno for me as a tie.

While I wrote least favorite, 3 is the only one I don't like. Also I didn't put 11 and 14 in the list because I find it too hard to compare rpg to mmorpg.

FFVI (NA FFIII) was my all time favorite. Granted, that was the first FF I ever played, but holy s#!% was that one to start me off. Everything about that game was so well thought out and epic. I've never been able to match the experience since. The only other FF game to give me such a sense of wonder was XI.

VII was a good follow up, and made a great transition into 3D environments. I remember the first time I made it to the world map, the music score hit the high point just as I passed through a narrow valley into an open field (down by the chocobo ranch)...it was perfect timing and left me in awe.

I hate to say it and many disagree, but the series has been on a steady decline since then. I enjoyed the return to class separation in IX, and especially Vivi. X was graphically awesome, but the lack of a world map and control of the airship was a huge step in the wrong direction...along with Tidus's voice acting.

VI - because of its ridiculously large cast of likeable characters

7- because it was one of my first playstation games

tactics- 'cause i had never played a tactical rpg before

FF12 IZJS is by FAR the best of the series for me in terms of gameplay.
New and awesome battle system, nice sidequests, NMs & rare monsters, huge world to explore etc etc.
Only thing it lacks is a trully great story, but I think the one it has is satisfying.

If only Yasumi Matsuno didn't get out of the project cause of sickness we would have now the Best Jrpg out there.

Behind FF12, I liked FF7 and FF6 (nostalgia is a strong thing).

FFTactics is the best Tactical RPG Ive ever played and has the best scenaro n any Jrpg IMHO.
Tactics Ogre LUCT comes second by a very small margin.

If I had to choose I would say FFX. It wasn't My first FF game but it really had me attached to my character. I was pissed when my character vanished at the end. Also, loved all the characters in it. Thought it was funny as hell when Wakka killed something with a beach ball(blitzball).

Vaan actually wasn't supposed to be in the game, he was added in later in the project because one of the designers feared the game wouldn't identify with today's youth. LOL
