[Dev Request] Brand New RP Servers

Balmung is how it is because it's not just a RP sever, it's mixed as well as international, if you tag it some people will leave and some others will stop coming, it doesn't matter how you tag it, if you do it you're unbalancing its population and then Balmung will stop being Balmung.

For me that's hurting the community.

If tags become a thing I'll lose the kind of world i like, I'm being selfish but I'm sure I'm not alone.

I've had RPers in DF refuse to use certain abilities because they're RPing. I absolutely understand this isn't everyone, but this does happen, don't kid yourself. You're not some unified group; you certainly can't speak for everyone.

Also, I disagree with this proposal. Japan does not RP frequently if at all, the concept is foreign to them. The cost of maintaining three or more additional servers is best used on the game as a whole not just a subset of the population and, as we see with how long it took to implement a single new EU server - that is, after every server on the data center had more than 7000 active players, and more than 4 with 10000, it was desperately needed - it also shows that SE is extremely unwilling to bear these new server costs.

Do you think there are 5k+ active individual RPers per region willing to play their mains on these new servers? I think you'd struggle to fill one. Ask for one instead of three and you might have a more reasonable discussion.

What's a new RP server going to do? Hypothetically it would just run into the same problem Balmung does. It'd be the only RP server, and eventually it'd flood so much due to increasing population that it would have to be locked down. ( If people wanted to even move, I doubt a massive flux of players would transfer from balmung to it unless the incentives were huge just due to already being established here with the community of RPers and Non-RPers )

As someone else said, if there's going to be designations on servers, it needs to be done at launch, and there needs to be more than one. As it is right now, the only real solutions is for them to increase their hardware tech, because lets face it, they struggle with things even F2P games can pull off fine enough, or just deal with one of the alternative unnofficial RP servers until it opens back up. We'll probably see /some/ but not a ton of migration from balmung to the designated servers so there will be openings.

If it's so infrequent, then why did Yoshi P acknowledge a community of Japanese dungeon roleplayers. Something has to be pretty notable for the devs to notice most of the time.

If you had read all of my post, you would know that I had suggested at least one per data center, not just one for all data centers.

I question the veracity of your claim. It is inconsistent with how roleplayers engage in roleplay, and unless you produce a log demonstrating your allegations - I seriously doubt they ever ever occurred. Roleplayers do not "refuse to use certain abilities" in public PVE dungeon finder settings; we know how to distinguish between OOC and IC. I'm a roleplayer. I know /hundreds/ of fellow roleplayers. And the type of conduct you describe is simply non-existent.

The post above speaks volumes to why roleplayers /need/ a centralized, official roleplay hub, and why other developers grant RPers their own servers to great success. We're a distinct community that can no longer grow because our unofficial server is locked for transfers.

One official RP server would be perfectly sufficient, but one per data center would help ensure that people had better ping options.

well Yoshi P answer to that question was not a flat out NO, just not atm, until they find a solution that is fair for all users (which will likely not envolve marking balmung as RP)

Unusual as it may be, it probably has happened at some point. Of course there are also exist many more cases of non-RPers who refuse to use certain abilities because of stupid reasons. It certainly does not mean RPers are more likely to do that than non-RPers.

I would be against this because people like u asking for to servers or normal hardcore pets are against pvers wanting open world PvP servers.

It is unrealistic to identify that type of behavior as "unusual." It is more reasonable to identify it is "so exceptionally rare that it has either never happened or happened perhaps one or two times in the history of dungeon finder groups." It is unreasonable to impute a certain type of behavior (i.e. - RPers will create toxic communities) based on /pure/ speculation, conjecture, and hand-wringing. What is real is that roleplayers are frequently ostracized for roleplaying (just google this if you doubt my claim). Roleplayers should be very critical of any claim that attempts to cast their community in a light that is not based in reality.

Non-roleplayers may not understand or appreciate that roleplayers need official servers and organized communities. The roleplay community depends on a centralized hub because it is small.
