[Dev Request] Brand New RP Servers

Here's how I'd do it. 1. Don't make any existing servers official RP servers. Make one per data center. That way each region has its RP location, and people won't just all flock to Balmung. 2. Offer free transfers to those servers. 3. By making new servers, the attitude that Yoshi is afraid of, will be a lot less of a problem. Non roleplayers on existing RP hubs won't be pressured to leave. Perhaps SE could also supply a warning to players that try to join an RP centric server. The warning could let them know that they are likely to run into roleplayers, and maybe some information to keep in mind. I.e. Etiquette. 4. Keep Balmung locked up until the population disperses enough. If this happened, I would seriously leave Balmung, and start over. It would be nice for roleplayers to have their own place, within their own specific regions. It would also open up a lot of of housing, and help our crisis. Another thing I'm sick of is all the negative Balmung comments, from people who don't even roleplay, or have any part in our community. Perhaps designating roleplay servers would help promote more respect, and legitimacy.

It's not the same. Roleplayers want a community of people to roleplay with. Not just their free companies. We crave a world, not just our own spaces. Hence why most of us won't leave. Until that feeling is met somewhere else, SE isn't going to be able to get rid of us.

I'd be against this for a purely selfish reason, 'cause I don't think I could convince all my non-rper friends to transfer off if there was some kind of mass rper exodus, and then even if I decide to transfer off, or stay, I'll still be losing half my friends. :<

I see it as a sacrifice worth making. Perhaps to make that easier, SE could make a free company transfer service of some kind.

Oh I'm adding the presence of a free transfer option into this hypothetical scenario.

Let's be real, if Balmung grows any further, it's going to get worse. Remember when the server crashed on the first night of the make it rain campaign? Our server is so strained. I'm honestly fearful for how the servers are going to act on Friday.

First off: I do not RP. I would never do so AND I am 100% turned off from both an immersion standpoint and an enjoyment stadpoint by RP.

That being said, RP players DESERVE their own place to be able to RP without having to worry about people like me. There really is zero reason during a MAJOR transition like this not to in some way accomodate them. Either:

A) Designate an existing server as RP and then offer free transfers to and from it.

or

B) Establish an RP specialty server per data center.

Both of these solve a long running issue in a game briming with enough lore to justify an RP scene.

What happens when those RPers expect the rules of an RP server, and then enter DF, where these rules do not apply? I sure hope they don't expect to RP their way through dungeons.
