Going to main a tank job for SB need some advice

I would try them all before you decide. I play all three and IMO

PLD- the most easiest and safest to tank with and high survivability, horrible DPS though, but that will change in Stormblood thankfully. If you value protecting your allies more than anything else then this is your job

DRK- Meeehh ok....very MP dependent but also fairly easy to get argo. I don't like this job as much as the other three but it does have good survivability

WAR- Very fun and awarding, it's pretty much a DPS that can tank and does great damage. Takes a little bit of time to learn how to argo cause it's a cone aoe attack you will use ("Overpower") so you have to try to force the mobs to bunch up and very TP dependent. They are taking away some of WAR's healing abilities...but all in all it's still going to be the main offensive tank in SB

by the time stormblood kicks in PLD will be DPSing as good as WAR while also having stronger defense than both DRK and WAR

I think he meant don't base your choice on the flavor of the month and xpac/patch rumors/hysteria. Playing a tank is fine, but really, go with the flavor of tank you simply think is coolest...because even with all the number crunching in Spreadsheet Fantasy XIV: Spreadsheets Reborn, where WAR will "suck" because of some percentile difference in one rotation or another, the tank jobs are not that far off from each other. They just aren't. So it's your main, your subscription and your playtime. Spend it with a job/race/look you prefer most, not what Rumor Central tells you is your best FotM play this minute.

If sword/board meat-shieldy play and look/feel is you, then sure, make a PLD. Just don't make one because you think the other two "won't get groups." They will, guaranteed. Their queue times will be instant, guaranteed. So you play what you like looking at and have fun with. Period.

Personally i'm of the opinion that the margin Paladin is ahead by is so large that even SE couldn't have missed it so I'm believing that they're already aware. If paladin releases with the numbers from the media tour, you can be sure as hell every Warrior in the game is gonna explode (since they love their deeps so much) assuming they release it as broken as it is right now. Like bard-level explosion.

Most people on these forums don't seem to have noticed that PLD got a buff of 10 potency or more to every single combo ability they have, even Fast Blade. On top of the FoF buff, Req/HS-spam, etc.

I don't really care about DPS tbh. Just looking for something that isn't hard to play because even with as much as I love this game I am not good at it.

i think the reason why WAR players complain so much about their job in 4.0 is more like because their new job skills are borderline useless rather than worrying about their DPS

I agree with you completely. With the currently known numbers, Paladin DPS will be 20-30% ahead of both Dark Knight and Warrior. If it's not rebalanced, PLD/PLD will be the only viable comp.

I can't really sympathize with this line of thinking either, as WAR already had so much, so idk what more they could have added. The main things that they lost were utility, which I feel is a justifiable trade-off for having the highest DPS. Self healing took a hit with Bloodbath, but WAR got Rampart in return, which is bananas. WAR is actually looking like a far better MT than OT in 4.0.

The biggest concern is actually the prospected change in having half our stacks/gauge destroyed upon swap.

For PLD this isn't a big deal because Sheltron is a sprinkle in contrast to the rest of their kit and DRK just loses MP and nothing else.

For WAR it becomes disgustingly clunky and neuters our general stack usage. No stance swap penalty has ever made any tank want to only just stay in one stance as much as this one.

Not to mention my beloved Unchained was indirectly nerfed with the implementation of Inner Release.

Also Onslaught sucks donkey nuts. And Shake it Off is either gonna be terribad or terribroke depending on content.
