I'd have to agree. I'm not a game developer but I am a software developer. One of the metrics we use to gauge value for an improvement is how much it's in demand. We do consider possible limitations of current code and effort that rewriting areas may take as well. But if the value is deemed to be high enough, then we may move forward with an improvement for our customers even if it's not entirely easy to implement. It all depends on the delicate balance of effort versus reward.
