Its fine. Even if RDM had its own "fencing" set or whatever, it would always just be a recolor of another set anyway. You won't get a unique set other than for your AF gear.

True, but to take out Robes altogether simply because of the addition of RDM would also be a bad choice. BLM and SMN's should have their robes, as well as their coats, but RDM shouldn't have to be subjected to it.
So even if RDM just get recolors of other gear, as long as it means that they don't have to get a robe because BLM and SMN got a robe, then I'm cool with it.
Honestly it seems to me like -most- Int caster gear falls into the Coat Category more than the Robe one. Shire Tomestone certainly does. The Shiva Set did as well. Before that we had the artifact sets, in which BLM was a tunic of all things and SMN a coat. Before that a robe-like Doman set. So of the 4 Tomestone Sets this expansion, only -1- was a real Robe. The crafted sets aren't really robes either. The Eikonic set has a long skirt/kilt that goes down to the feet, yes, but the top is more like a Vest than anything, doesn't even have sleeves.
The more I think about it, the more I have to conclude we didn't have a TON of, 'Robes,' this expansion either. Dusk Vigil has them, and the Vault, and Aery, but Sohm Al didn't, and Great Gubal Library was a Coat... Neverreap and Continuum had a robe, which was nice. Pity that one cannot be dyed.
SCHs and MCHs have had to deal with shared gearsets that don't fit their aesthetic, so don't see why RDM will/should be different. All SE has to do is diversify future gearsets so that it's not always catered to one Caster aesthetic (which they currently do anyway).
A good point. Seems each expansion has an, 'Artifact,' set which is based on the individual class, and then the sets are designed around a theme, such as raid gear being designed to the raid, or tomestone gear being designed to what sometimes seems to be a random theme, like Primals out of nowhere.
If it means more diverse caster clothing while the healers land up with more robes, that's potentially great news. Less of the 'black/white variants of the same gear' and more variety. Not to say I am going to steer clear of robes entirely on my casters, but they always clip awfully anyway so this could be a nice accidental benefit for those of us who look good in other styles.
Caster job uses INT gear...
In other news, the sky is blue, the grass is green and water is wet.
I suspect it'll have its own set the way Dragoon and Ninja do for strength and dexterity do, respectively. If loot bloat was really an issue, then why do they insist that Ninja wear different things from Machinist and Bard? Or Dragoon from Samurai and Monk, for that matter? Follows the aesthetics of the job in question. Black Mage and Summoner are not fighters by any stretch, but Red Mage is while also being a caster. Loot bloat is no argument, especially with tomestones. If anything, it just gets people doing the content a bit more.
