World Map

What is the town to the East of Kugane? Cuyyo? Something like that? Anything about that place in the current lore?

Bukyo, I believe (going off this image here; my Eorzean script game is pretty weak).

Given its landmark status and its general location, I'm willing to confidently say that it's the capital of Koshu, and probably all of Hingashi - the Hydaelyn equivalent of Edo (medieval Tokyo). The -kyo ending, which can mean "capital" in Japanese, further implies this.

Beyond that, I don't *think* we know anything else, although I'm not sure if it comes up in any of the ambient NPC dialog, flavor text, etc. of Stormblood.

Some differences I saw between mine and the other maps posted here:

It's definitely Daitenzan, looking at the in game map.
It's also Nagxia, rather than Naaxia, or Nacxia. Zooming in on the world map, it's pretty clear.
I'm pretty sure it's Ryakgyr Peninsula rather than Hyakgyr. It's very difficult to make out the later letters, but I'm fairly confident it's an R.

Besides the sensible meta-reasons explained by Moose, and the Calamitous re-geography-ing explained by Razor, we should also consider that maps (as would have been accurate during Allagan reign) quite probably do exist, but they are in non-paper (tomestone) format or otherwise very well hidden. Five thousand years is a long time for paper records, and they are not likely to have survived unless kept in sealed, magicked, or otherwise protected locations.

To draw a real-world parallel, we Earthans have shifted a great amount of our record-keeping to electronic formats in the last few decades, and books from even just a few hundred years ago might require careful preservation and handling to keep them from crumbling on contact.
