It's among the more common uses of macros in the game. Lots of healers have a macro to heal their mouse-over, their target, or their target's target, whichever is applicable.

There's the usual timing issue of not queuing, but you initially referred to mouseover as not being supported. That's not its issue. It is supported. It just can't be queued in advance.
